-
Its obvious. That was one of the days when Martin B was lying sozzled on the kitchen floor & not interferring I'd also like to point out that Robert's dad and my dad are bigger than you dad - so back off!

I have since booked

I'd feel gutted if they didn't
-
its called a 330 pound (sterling) grudge this easily the worst "top" place I've ever eaten in & this is from the guy who's suffered John Brition Race, twice!

don't even think about hesitating - sketch is astonishing. no contest.

what happened! Capital is my favourite restaurant (foor, not decor) - I am now very worried & haven't been recently as I don't want to exhaust its appeal. Maybe that wa the night one of Jamie Oliver's thugs was doing a stint... On PT - recently went through toptable in a moment of faux budgettery restraint - not very good meal. Left feeling very hungry & dissapointed. Had the teasting menu mid-summer which I enjoyed. I also loved the amuses - particularly the foie gras sarnie & beef blob

fuckin' A although I have to admin after careful consideration of the facts, experiences of all around, my believe in giving someone a second chance & that bux is such a sane and decent fellow - there aren't enough toreadors in all of Spain to drag me back there again

I do - lighten up. Its only a restaurant after all

I had dinner there are few months ago - pre starters were extensive as were the starters - 4 each if memory servers plus about 6 amuses. And then some. In fact - by the time main arrived I could barely eat more than half. I don't have any notes but I do recall a mouse of foie gras with raspberry coulis on top - quite divine. Sadly I couldnt even contemplate a single dessert (7 on offer as part of the "grand dessert"). I didn't have any wine as I couldn't affort it (18 pounds for a glass!). Service was exceptional & friendly although the carpet is a bit off putting. Toilets were great - like peeing into a waterfall! Can't wait to go back (when my credit card is healither - although now I think of it - that may be never). Wish I'd known about the excelent sounding lunch.

Had the 5 course "meat" menu for £34 last night. Overall - I the food was pretty wonderful but the service is really awful. M came out & talked to us at the end & said that he knew that there were teething troubles but a head waiter was arriving soon. he/she have their work cut out for them. Briefly: Amuse of fava bean soup which is poured over basil puree & carmeliase onions - superb 1st - pumpkin veloute with little floaty things - one bum note of the evening - lacked the clarity of the amuse - also a bit too similar. 2nd - perfectly cooked scallops with tatin of chicory - very good indeed The alternative 2nd was foie gras with figs - seriously good 3rd - sea bass (?) or siilar white fish with lentils & girolles. Very good 4th - slithers of venison on an bed of red cabbage & raviloi of wild hare - ravioli was v good, venison good but nit great Alternative 4th was pigeon - pretty good. 5th - standard chocolate pud with melting centre - choice of chocolate - 45% or 70% coco. I went for the sugar hit. Milk sorbet came with it. Alterniatve 5th - pineapple souffle & various bits & pieces. Worth a detour.

We're just a couple of middle aged farts who need a wee bit of comfort. Somewhere in the middle range - but quirky would be more welcome rather than international anonymous

Look on the bright side - like the wine the look on your partner's face must have been priceless

Sandra I hope I don't ruin your punchline from the other post but I think it needs mentioning here. You pointing to an £160 bottle of wine but them suggesting an alternative at £800 without mentioning the cost is close to criminal if not already fraudulent. A few pounds difference as in the case of the locatelli / truffle rip-off incident I could laugh off but here - frankly - I'd talk to lawyer if I were you. Yours - a seething BLH - I am not even paying the bill!
-
I think they saw you coming 800 - I think I'd have made more than a little stink
-
who do you trust more Mashler or Wareing? One of them, at least, knows what they're doing.

I went once - foie gra & prunes was suberb. The steak frittes had a hair in the sauce. I was too scared of Bourdain to complain.

Fay M slated it in Wednesday's Evening Standard (I tried to get the link but I have not registered). Only the freebies seemed good. Have now cancelled & am going to Tom Aikens instead.
