  1. I've made it for the first time this year from a recipe that I found on the internet. I changed it a bit by using 1/2 beef, 1/2 pork and adding a bit more vegetables to lighten it up. My husband loves it (his family used to make it all the time when he was a child apparently). My in-laws loved the version that I made enough that they wanted to make a dozen to give away as Christmas presents this year.
  2. DV8 hosts a an evening called 'Dinner in the Dark'.
  3. I gave in to my craving for samosas and headed to the Himalaya and grabbed a half dozen...I'm not sure if there's going to be any left for my hubby at this point - the pastry is so tender!!! I have to agree that most of the best indian food is home cooking, but have any of you tried the local temples?? We had some friends who told us, if we wanted really good indian food, go to the temples as they serve a great vegetarian meal. I can't remember which one, as this conversation took place over a year ago over some really decent dosas at Quilon in Richmond.
  4. Been to Go Fish for almost every weekend that it's been opened (hubby works on Granville Isl.) Noticed some changes - service still takes forever, but that's what you get when you want it fresh. And they are now starting to remember to add the coleslaw for takeout. The sandwiches don't come with fries anymore (but the prices haven't changed!) They said it took to long for the fries (sandwich is ready way before any of the deep fried stuff). So, if you are in a rush, go for something from the grill, but if you want f&c, expect to wait 15-20 minutes.
  5. I took my husband there for his birthday in June and we did not find the meal that memorable, it was if the dishes were under seasoned, nothing stood out except for the chocolate dessert - I really did not enjoy milk chocolate with real truffle. I found it too pungent and it erased anything pleasant from our meal.
