  1. I plan to go. I may have another person with me - possibly two. I don't know about the others yet.
  2. We returned to Royal Thai for dinner last night. The good news is that the menu is large and quality of the food is very high. The bad news is that they only have one main course left that resembles the Afghan Grill menu -- a grilled lamb chop dish. We ended up with the grilled lamb chops, a duck and mango dish, and curry fried rice with shrimp. All were very good. Still, I miss the Afghan Grill which specialized in highly-flavored grilled meat dishes.
  3. Went to Royal Thai in Edison for lunch yesterday. Wanted to see what had happened to Afghan Grill (with the same owners) that used to be next door and was very good. Afghan Grill seems to have bit the dust, with the space taken over by Royal Thai. We did meet one of the hostesses from Afghan Grill though, who assured us that some items from the Afghan menu are still served. We intend to try out dinner there soon. In the meantime, lunch at the Royal Thai consists of a very nice Thai buffet. Has anyone been to Royal Thai since they "merged", and what about other Afghan restaurants in the area?
  4. Actually, I kind of agree about satay, but I had a large lunch that day and didn't want to experiment with appetizers much. I still intend to give the restaurant another chance.
  5. I had pork satay and a shrimp and pineapple curry, which I asked for medium. The curry was quite good - the satay was VERY bland. My friend had a a beef and ginger dish, which he requested hot, and pronounced it "not at all spicy".
  6. I have had some good meals at Royal Siam in Pearl River, NY (I know it's not NJ, but it's close). I think I like Bankok Gardens in Hackensack better though. I tried Wondee's once recently with a friend and we found it rather bland. I'll have to give it another chance.
  7. Mark - very nice photographs. Rosie and Rachel - I thought it was an exceptional evening. My personal favorite was the House Special Saute. Thanks all.
