  1. I dont live in Austin any more but I've eaten at castle hill a number of times and always found the food just satisfactory. There are many places with better food but sometimes its fun to eat in a restuarant that has some history. I do remember good wine prices as well as a great wine inventory sale every year. One thing i hate about the place is there menu descriptions, it seems as if they list every ingredient in the dish. In there defense though, this is a often seen sympton of creative new american cuisine; without traditional titles for dishes it comes to a choice of hoping the customer will trust the ingredients you match in a dish, or listing them all out. I believe a customer should always get what they want, but dining would be more adventureous if they but there trust in a chef, and let their palates explore the food.
  2. heres a couple of my old favorites... bill's hamburgers for a burger bigger than your head, gordo's for killer burritos, and i know its trendy but i love the irish coffee at buena vista and the diner style service.(plus it was around the corner from work at gary danko. If you've been to the laundry and didnt try his older bro's place bouchon, you should i really dig the blood sausage there.
  3. I spend good money on good cook books. also ;organic milk, artisan cheese, artisan bread, clogs, salt, sushi umm i'll think of more just wanted to throw my hat in the ring
  4. I hated this show. I gave me flash backs to the original Iron Chef when that idiot Flay beat Morimoto. I'm as red blooded about American chefs as the next guy but I gotta wonder when the best chefs we can come up with are these glory hounds sicked upon us by their publicists. Maybe the next battle will be the Frugal Gourmet vs. Chef Tell........
