I've herard Villa d'Este is wonderful - but the room are on the smallish side? anyway I'd stay there if I could but that's alittle more than I wanted to spend. I'm O.K with around $300-400 US dollars. looking for a room overlooking the lake, hopfully with a town near by to walk aroung. Hotel silvo's web site looks good.

I am going to spend two days in piedmont and two days somewhere on lake como in July. I have found many threads on where to eat and sleep in piedmont (especilly for barolo tasting), but I coultn't find any on Lake como? any advise on where to stay for a night or two and where to eat? by the way, as a newbie, let me express what a great site this is. It has been very helpfull in planning my first ( of many?) trip to Italy.
