I love love love Capogiro dark chocolate gelato. Recently, I sampled Il Lab's Thai chili chocolate sorbet (too much chili for me), lychee lemongrass (nice and tangy, but very very hard) and rosewater poppy gelato (couldn't taste the rose at all).

These descriptions are driving me crazy with hunger, I have to get to Tailor as soon as possible!

This isn't all you can eat by any means, but Kanoyama has an "early bird special" for around $12, I think.

That's what I feared... I can't say enough how magical our dinner was when Liebrandt was the chef. My non-foodie husband oohed and aahed over every course. I've never seen him so excited about a restaurant; he even asked if we could go there for our anniversary.

Thanks LPShanet. I was actually underwhelmed by Public; I guess I'll either book that trip to Chicago, go back to WD-50 or wait for Liebrandt to come back.

has anyone been lately? I was so disappointed about this, because I had one of the most exciting meals of my life at Gilt before the chef change. With Urena gone (thankfully WD-50 is still here), what are some of your recommendations for more adventurous food?

We've just been having a vigorous discussion here and if you go back a page or two you'll find more. I'm surprised the Tour de France would increase reservations. It doesn't reach Paris til the end of the month. Are you open to eating at lunch? Never a problem. ←

Hello eGulleters, I have a restaurant crisis! I'm going to Paris next week and have not made a single reservation. Since the Tour de France is going on, it seems that many places are booked. Do you have any ideas for this poor foodie?

Any publicity is good publicity, in many cases. It's true how the food blogs have proliferated! When I first started food-blogging back in 2002, there weren't that many of us... Bread Chocolate Coffee Yoga, Leite's Culinaria and what is now A Full Belly (the author lived in NY before moving to SF) were up, I think. It's quite a challenge after 5 years to 1) keep eating and 2) keep writing, but I still find such activities very satisfying. And I love reading other food blogs and message boards such as eGullet (especially eGullet!).

OOOh. I loved La Terre in Shibuya... they had this orange chocolate cake that was the most amazing thing ever. One layer of dark chocolate decorated with a mandarin orange, one layer of orange with little bits of candied orange... oh dear.

I saw Ed Levine's posting I think I should have worn different shoes, or something. Also, it seemed like the majority of the "friends" showed up right when I was *finally* about to receive the promised reward! Like Ed from Serious Eats! I'm so glad people are giving him crap for that in the comments to his post. I mean, I understand, it's a long line, you're bored, you make your friend hold your bag and you go to Barney's Co-Op or whatever. But still bumping into someone and joining them on the line? Eh. ←

The fior di latte was really great. (The line was pretty frustrating! People walking by would "run into someone they knew" and then just kind of stick in line ahead of me. )
