About Me

I firmly believe that the best way to the heart of a culture is through the cuisine. I literally travel to eat.

Not surprisingly then, I publish and write the EAT SMART series of culinary travel guidebooks. To date guides have been written about the cuisines of Brazil, Turkey, Indonesia, Mexico, Poland, Morocco and India. Currently I am working on the guide to Peru's cuisine. All guide titles are the same, with the obvious exception of the name of the country covered. For example, the latest guide is entitled: "Eat Smart in India: How to Decipher the Menu, Know the Market Foods & Embark on a Culinary Adventure." My publishing company is Ginkgo Press located in Madison WI.

Researching and writing culinary guidebooks is my second career. I am also a biochemist. My academic degrees, including a PhD, are from the University of WI in Madison, where I did research in the biochemistry department for many years before moving on to a greater passion: food.
