  1. The restaurant megan is talking about was Hunan Wok, now I believe Pearl East?. I grew up in Stamford, around the corner, and can attest to he high quality of their sesame noodles and their dumplings. A real shame that the left.
  2. I am the best man planning a bachelor party in San Diego this June. I was wondering if anyone had some recommendations for: 1) Nice steakhouses for dinner 2) Nice italian restaurants for dinner 3) Paricularly fun bars in San Diego. Thanks in advance, Craig.
  3. I will be in Paris over the holidays this year and my wife was very interested in going the Ferme Saint Hurbert for a meal. Unfortunately, from what I can discern it appears that this cheese-centric restaurant has met an untimely demise? Does anyone know if the same is true for Androuet? Either way, does anyone have recommendations for other restaurants in this genre? Thanks in advance, CG.
  4. My family and I will be traveling to france over the Christmas-New Years holiday. Obviously, this presents some difficulties regarding restaurant reservations. We arrive on Christmas day, and we are having a devil of a time finding someplace to eat that evening. Does anyone have any suggestions of a nice place for a dinner that evening? Any other thoughts on can't miss dining opportunities are (of course) welcome. We will be in Beaunne for three days during the trips, and in paris for 8 days (with a one day trip to Epernay. Thanks in advance, Craig.
  5. thanks for all of your help. I did make it to Campo's and the cheesesteak was delicious. Nice firm bun and tender, flavorful meat. Nice way to end a long day.
  6. And the subway runs pretty frequently between 2nd and Market and 30th Street Station?
  7. Does Campos have good cheessteaks? I have done the Pat's and Geno's before, so I wouldn't mind trying a new place.
  8. I should have been more clear, I will be getting out of my meeting at 8:00 PM and need to catch a 9:00 PM Amtrak. I was hoping to get a sandwich to go on the train with. The webstie says RTM closes long before I would need to get there--though the roast pork sandwich sounds very tempting.
  9. I am going to be in Philly for a grand total of 3 hours on Thursday for a meeting at 400 North Broad Street. Where can I get a good cheesesteak around there before I have to rush to make a train? Craig.
  10. Walking by Whole Foods yesterday I noticed that Merkado is set to open sometime this week. In addition, the Continental has closed and a new restaurant, I believe named P St. Bistro, is scheduled to open soon. The spacle next to the studio theater and below the Hemphill Galery on 14th St is being renovated and the permits say a restaurant will be located there. Anyone have any more information on what will be in that space, or what quality the other restaurants in the area will be? Nice to have some more options in that neighborhood.
  11. How much were they selling the duck parts for? I must say, I have always preferred Mel and Market Poultry for their service and pricing. Craig.
  12. Also scratch Canales meat at Eastern Market.
  13. Was wondering if anyone knew of a source for Caul fat in the district. Craig.
  14. My family will be traveling through Toulouse, Carcasonne, and Bordeaux in two weeks. I was wondering if anyone could provide some restaurant suggestions. I was hoping for things beyond the list of 1 or 2 star michelin establishments. Establishemnts that are less fancy but still with exceptional food quality. Thanks in advance, Craig
  15. A major draw for Toulouse was, as Menton guessed, the food. We were on our honeymoon in Lyon last November, and Bux yes we did enjoy it immensely. We just want to expandour horizons a little, thus the search for new regions. The current plan is to fly in Toulouse. Spend three days there, spend three days in Bordeaux and then fly back up to Paris for time with the family. Thank you for all of your recommendations so far, all other feedback will be greatly appreciated. Craig.
  16. Due to the magic of airlines, the plan has changed dramatically. Amazingly cheap easy jet fairs to Toulouse from Orly has moved it well ahead of the pack. Any thoughts/Recommendations on Toulouse? Craig.
  17. To clarify. We will have a car, and i would say that we probably more interested in eating and drinking then sightseeing, but do want SOME sightseeing. Any restaurant suggestions in either region are always welcome.
  18. I will be traveling in France in the beginning of Fall. I will be meeting Family in Paris three days after I arrive. I would like to spend those three days with my wife in an area other than paris. I have narrowed our choices down to Reims (and the general champagne region) and Tours (and the Loire Valley). As an aside, we were in Burgundy in November, and loved it but would like to try another area. Was wondering if anyone has any suggestions between these two. Craig.
  19. My wife and I were in Beaune in November and ate at Le Jardin des Remparts. I really enjoyed the entire experience. If I recall, I had a wonderful braised rabbit for the entree. They also had a very nice selection of cheese for dessert. As would be expected in Beaune, the wine list was exceptional. If you are in the area, Ma Cuisine in Beaune was also a very nice meal.
  20. Does anyone know of a good source for Salt Cod in the DC area? Preferably in the district. Craig
  21. Just wanted to chime in. I had a wonderful dinner at Citronelle on Wednesday night. Spoke with Mark about Burgundy and Paris. We had the Michel menu and everything was exquisite.
