  1. Don't miss Meridian 42 in southern shores. Beautiful wine list and grown up food in a casual but stunning dining room. call for reservations or go online to reserve. www.meridian42.com I know they change their menu seasonally, haven't been since the summer...YET! I'm sure their menu is online...check it out! the crabcakes (always off the menu are not to be missed!)
  2. We went a few years ago, very unimpressed with the food. For the prices they charged the food was mediocre. The atmosphere was very dated as was the menu. My steak wasn't very flavorable, my companion got the Lambchops which were better. The wine list is amazing and the staff was very cordial. So I can't say anything about the service, it was good. Angus Barn is a tradition in Raleigh and I hope they always will be, but I can't say in good conscience that I will ever return.
  3. That is unbelievable anyone would steer you away from Meridian 42! Without a doubt, one of the finest restaurants for a truly memorable dining experience. what a shame... My boss was down visiting the outer banks last weekend and he followed my advise and he reported to me it was one of the best meals he's ever had. HE said he got the shrimpcake entree and is still dreaming about it! I'm glad they enjoyed it, would have not been good for me to give the bossman bad advise. Thank you Meridian 42!!
  4. Sorry, wrong direction. Rick and Tina Sauls will be on the left, not right when coming into the Outer Banks.
  5. Don't go to Bubba's. Bubba died a few years ago and his widow sold and it has been awful every since. You need to go to Rick and Tina Sauls BBQ in Currituck. It's about 15 to 20 minutes from Nags head. If fact you 'll probably notice it if you look on the right about 3 or 4 miles before the Currituck bridge. Rick Saul, does eastern style bbq justice. His father cooked for Parker bbq in Wilson NC for many years before moving to the outer banks with his family. they offer Family style which is all you can eat. They keep bringing whatever you like to the table. They offer bbq, fried chicken (it's excellent!) boiled potatoes, slaw, hushpuppies, brunswick stew and banana pudding for dessert on their family style menu. Don't hold me to this but I don't think it's any more than 7 dollars. You'll find them in the phone book when you get down. If you want a fancier meal, let me know I'll point you in the right direction.
  6. While in Nags Head must go to Meridian 42 in Southern shores. Coastal Mediterranean food, best restaurant on the beach. It's finer dining than most but it's a real casual atmosphere. If you want simpler fare, we also like Tortugia's lie in nags head. Great local's favorite. If you're coming in the summer and you want to eat at Meridian call for reservations, Tortugia's like many restaurants here don't take reservations. Meridian has a website with their menu. (it changes seasonally) www.meridian42.com
