Daryl and Oliver's Cafe Maxx in Pompano is excellent. So is Sunfish Grille in the same shopping mall. The latter is smaller with closer seating but they try hard and usually succeed. Excellent seafood. If you like Chinese, upscale Chinese, try Rainbow Palace on Oakland Park Blvd. Really classy decor (no chinese lanterns here) and usually excellent food. Across the street from Rainbow Palace in yet another strip mall (there is no other restaurant venue in Ft. Lauderdale) you'll find Cafe Seville, small cute Spanish with great food and a super wine list. In Wilton Manors we just tried and really liked Galanga, a Thai place that also has sushi in a very relaxing, serene environment. Enjoy. Ft. Lauderdale area has more selection of good food than any place it's size IMO. That's why we chose to retire here rather than anywhere else.
