About Me

Among my friends, I'm on top of the pile when cooking, having taught myself most of what I know. I'll try just about anything, eating or making, though I have pretty definite ideas of what I do and don't like.

Originally from Whidbey Island in Washington State, I have a healthy appreciation for seafood in all of its forms but sea cucumber. Having moved around a lot when my dad was in the Navy, I developed a taste for clam chowder, sushi, and crab cakes. I'll eat anything at anytime, which doesn't make sense to my husband. My only rule is that the first meal of the day must be identifiable - no mystery dishes, but leftovers are fair game!

Currently living in Japan with my husband, I'm teaching cooking classes with Niki's Kitchen and experimenting with recipes I've never had time for before.
