Brother Timothy Passes Away - Age 94

As reported via the Napa Valley Vintner's Association this morning:

The NVV is sad to report the passing of Brother Timothy, who died on Tuesday at the age of 94. A pioneer in the California wine industry, Brother Timothy was a beloved member of the Napa vintner community, and served as the winemaker for Christian Brothers for more than 50 years. He was well recognized for his leadership role in the industry, and served as NVV President in 1952, 1953, and 1962. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday at 10 am at St. Apollinaris Catholic Church in Napa.

This is big news in the valley this morning. Brother Timothy was an icon of the establishment of the California wine industry. Many a glass will be raised in toast this evening...

We were fortunate enough to have known Brother Timothy slightly thanks to a grad-school friend of my husband who was a Christian Brother and in training to become cellarmaster when Bro. Timothy retired. Both were wonderful men, and we certainly appreciated the special wines that they introduced us to.
