we are out for dinner at la  Rotounde - we are with Dinara Kasko - you may know her from Instagram.

The look on Dinara's face when she saw her soup bowl was priceless! It's butternut and chestnut soup. @Alleguede chose pate.

The Chef Cut people recognize the advantage of having their product on our table! Here is what they made us in about 1 minute start to finish this morning,

Any 3D printed chocolate at the show or technology therefor?

Rodney went to a demo yesterday by the girl we took out to dinner with us - it was to show a 3D printer. Didn't see any others at the show. Lots of bean to bar equipment and lots of tempering machines. The lovely folks at one of the booths across from us were gold merchants from Switzerland - the had all sorts of gold leaf for decoration. A couple of nice packaging companies.

That meal....in France...!?

The Horror!!!

There's a lot of very good (and mediocre, bad and worse) Asian cuisine in Paris - not so much elsewhere in France.  One ramen place I go to frequently does it better than anywhere I visited in Japan :)

If you have the time and the budget, there is a 1* Chinese place in the Shangri-La.  Really excellent cooking.

Our search (which was not fulfilled by last nights meal) was the find the Chinese food of @Alleguede's youth here in Paris. He is determined that the fat it's cooked in tastes different (and I suspect that is a big part of the difference).

Ah, I see.  Have you checked around the Chinese quarter in (I think) the 13th?  It's near metro Maison Blanche, where the big avenues form a triangle.  There's also a few big Chinese supermarkets there, which are always fun to visit :)

We might be finished with our Chinese search for now (might have to leave that to next trip) - but James I'm curious about where your favourite Ramen joint is?

It's in the Japanese district, not far from the Opéra Garnier: a place called Naritake ramen, on the rue des Petits Champs.  There are a few nearby, but this does the proper heavy Hokkaido style ramen with (allegedly) hand-pulled noodles.  It's like a hug in a bowl.

Off and running first thing this morning - we wanted to check out Du Pain et Idées - a pastry shop that specializes in escargot that I recalled from my last trip.

@Alleguede was not impressed with their croissant - but allowed that the pistachio escargot was quite alright!

Back into J. Detou to pick up all sorts of goodies - I got my spice I had seen last trip and another pepper that smelled quite awesome.

Coming around the corner towards Mora and Deco France we found a street market had been set up.

With a small enough car you can park just about anywhere.
