Meyersville Inn

My husband and I had dinner here last night (Tuesday) and, I'm glad to say had

a very, very good meal. We ordered the venison, a favorite of ours. The menu

called it something like venison 2 ways. What arrived was a very generous

venison sausage and 4 venison cutlets in gravy along with red cabbage and

pureed chestnuts. I don't particularly like chestnuts but done this way they were

truly awesome. The portions were so generous we took lots home. They have

a liquor license. Knowing this we skipped an appetizer and went for dessert.

I ordered apple struddle with ice cream served warm and he go carrot cake.

I have yet to read a review of this place.

It's a little far to go for me, but Zagat has a few member reviews here:

It must be new, because there are just a few reviews and Zagat still has questions marks under "Food Decor Service Cost"

My wife and I stopped by there about two months ago for drinks, we had a nice time, great wines by the glass and looked at the menu. It was interesting and the bartender, whom, I think, may have been new gave a great schtick about the chef and menu.

We went back a few weeks ago and ate at the bar, just a few appetizers, crab cake, a fried squid dish, and a chanterelle soup. All were different from what we expected, bonus, they were great. Wish I had remembered to post earlier, but I've been busy and this thread jogged my memory.

This was in my inbox this afternoon:

Hey guys,

It’s Ed the former Chef/G.M. at the Meyersville Inn. Don’t know if you got my e-mail last week or so, but, I’m just dropping a note to folks to let them know that My staff and I are no longer at the Inn. Drop a line back if you want to be kept abreast of whats happening and where we might end up doing our thing next. We all hope to see you soon.

All the best in 2008

Too bad is right. I had been away for a few weeks and stopped in at the bar before having dinner. The entire menu has changed and in my opinion, not for the better. The bartender told me the owner decided to return to something similar to the menu from the former Meyersville Inn from the nineties.

Quite frankly, it looks like a diner menu with some faux cajun items. Blackened this and that, with a few tired italian american dishes thrown in for good measure. Chicken parm, chicken marsala, etc. It made the Ginty's menu seem more appealing if such a thing is possible.

The last meal I had there a few weeks ago was a wonderfull cassoluet. The menu was seasonal and changed with ingredients that were available at any particular time of year. This I was told by different servers over the last few months, and it was true. Faced with this new Calabria chain type menu I decided not to have dinner.

There was a new sign outside that read: casual dining pub fare happy hour.

Sorry, but not why I went there.
