  1. I used to stop in the town of West. If you go into the town itself, not the places adjacent to IH-35, there was a place to eat breakfast that wasn't too bad. It wan't memorable, either, or I would remember the name. There is also a butcher shop there that has some locally made sausages.
  2. Should have gone with NYT to the Yellow Rose. I've never been, of course. I only know about it from hearing others talking about it.
  3. The 10th works for me!
  4. My recommendations would be Bistro Jeanty, Martini House and Wappo Bar and Bistro.
  5. Castle Hill is a very good pick. I vote for that. As far as a date: June 16 or June 17.
  6. Zinc?...............the last time coins were made from zinc, wasn't there a war between the states?
  7. Bistro Ralph. Also on the Square in Healdsburg. I've only had lunch there, but it's great.
  8. Hey.......JPW............I grew up in Pittsburgh. Do not ever say anything bad about Iron City. You've been warned.
  9. Let's do it...........................I'm in! I'd like to see some of the other eGulleteers around the country top this one.
  10. Here are a few I never miss: St Clement (very friendly and knowledgable), Regusci (some of the best cab in Stag's Leap, also one of the Ghost wineries), DO NOT miss Rutherford Grove, on Hwy 29. They have some of the best Pettite Sirah in the valley!! They also have a picnic grove that is less busy than Satui. Silver Oak, either Napa Valley or Sonoma location. If you have time go over to Dry Creek in Sonoma and go to Preston Winery. Lou Preston makes some of the best bread I have ever eaten and usually has some of his olive oil for sale. Jarvis is OK, the tour is better than the wine. Martini House is one of the best restaurants in the Valley. Don't miss a stop by the CIA and say hello to all my friends. The Wine Spectator Restaurant is also great and next to the bookstore they always have some type of cooking demo. I could go on.................
  11. Folks, I've eaten at Zoot twice in the last 6 weeks. I think the food is very good, the service is very good and the atmosphere is very good. All the dishes are prepared with the freshest ingredients in mind and you do get a balance of flavors on evry dish, without a lot of confusion. I recently had the opportunity to work with Stewart, i.e. he taught a cooking class I volunteered to help with, and he was extremely nice and very helpful with class prep. He did a lion's share of the prep and took time to explain to us novices why he was using certain ingredients and how they were best prepared. I'll go back to Zoot any time!
