  1. Just got my hands on my first bottle of Cachaca and google didn't have too much info on it. What can you come to expect from Nêga Fulô Cachaca?
  2. I've heard recommendations of Robert Hess "Trident" more than once.. Trident
  3. Yeah amazon.co.uk got tons of bar-stuff, sadly none of them ship internationally but only UK mainland... Googled for several *.co.uk bar sites but none could really compete with the price and the product-range of the american sites, even due to the insane shipping. Anyhow for future reference if you're just looking for a product or two and want cheap shipping in europe google: bar products *.co.uk <<< or any sort of site(*.de, *.fr etc) I'm sacrificing my money on the american site now because I need to get this cocktail-making going! Watching and reading Robert Hess, Dale DeGroff and Gary Regan, cocktail blogs and everything that goes up here on egullets own spirit's forum has taken it's toll! Enough is enough! Thanks for all the help, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread if anyone is looking for european bar sites as I've been to most of them by now sadly not keeping bookmarks on them.
  4. Seems like I got some wierd double post... Anyhow I'm gonna go with http://www.barproducts.com/. Their page looks like it's from the 90's but I think they'll do fine and the SEK(swedish currency) to USD exchange is in my favor.
  5. Yeah it's pretty much the only site that's swedish but their prices are just insanely high for their cheapest stuff. Given up on swedish pages when it comes to bar stuff for your home bar. In sweden the 'home bar' culture consists of Galliano hot shots, glögg and 'groggar' as we call em(spirits + random soda mostly ^^) so no need for bar tools there! Anyhow I'm still on the lookout for a decently cheap european retailer so I'll have a peak on bitter truth wich you mentioned. Still, if anyone have a cheap european retailer for home-bar stuff, I'd love to hear bout it
  6. Shameful bump, none here who's bought bar tools from a european retailer? Google has given me nothing and I work in the software industry so I'm forced to master googling... Maybe says more about my skills than google and the non-existant european bar tools retailers tough but I doubt it! Regards Joakim
  7. Robert Hess linked to this site in his "Beach Bum's Own" video description - Beach Bum's Own @ Smallscreennetwork Tiki glassware Aswell as the following link as a comment on his "Scorpion bowl" video - Scorpion Bowl Trader Vic barware Hope you find what you're looking for, once I settle down somewhat, buying several sets of tiki glasses will be one of the first thing to do!
  8. While I can't really speak for any of these drinks yet(just got a bottle of galliano dumped in my apartment a few days ago) it seems like there's a few uses besides the Wallbanger. CocktailDB 198 drinks with Galliano Webtender 77 drinks with galliano Spotted a several that sounded really tasty and I'll come back here once I've found them tried and true!
  9. So anyone round' here that has had any experience with a good mixing scotch for cocktails? My experience of scotch is sadly null except for a couple of single-malts wich isn't really suited for my needs Looking for something that belongs in the 'premium' category rather than 'value' but perhaps not something to expensive, I'd say around 15-30$ a bottle. Not something to smokey either I guess unless it adds a nice touch in your opinion and perhaps why so! Thinking about Famous Grouse as of now but think it might have somewhat of a medium smokiness that might be too much. Regards Joakim
  10. Jamie Bodreu on Vermouth and it's Golden ratio in cocktails So wanted to share this video with Jamie Bodreau both on vermouth and how you can use it in cocktails in a very general way and still make a good cocktail "95% of the time". He'll mention Vacu Vin wich has been mentioned earlier in the thread that helps to keep wine(including vermouth) from oxidizing too fast.
  11. Yeah was planning to polish my vermouth drinking and have that one standing looking good til my skills have excelled that of atleast five manhattan-gulpers and worst case scenario I'll probably have some friends chip in Anyhow guess 375 cl is going to be the way to go for me regarding the home-bar, less bottle size but I'll compensate with the surprise that to make good cocktails size doesn't matter! Should keep both me and the guests satisfied Will name-drop "Vacu Vin" to protect your vermouth(and wine in general) from oxidation aswell as looking at Jamie Bodreu on Vermouth That's where I got "Vacu Vin" from and haven't experimented that much with the ratio but can imagine it helps to consume a bit extra vermouth seeing all the mixology joy you'll get out of it
  12. Was wondering if, eg a spirit or the likes bottled in a smaller bottle would turn out different then in a bigger bottle? It's a wierd and minor practicality but was planning to buy some vermouth and atleast here in sweden they come in 375 ml(~12.5 oz) bottles aswell as 750ml(~25oz). Seeing you want to keep it fresh and thus buying the smaller bottle instead of the big one this 'practicality' sparked my interrest. Atleast in my case as I'm not(yet ;>) a serious consumer of vermouth just having to drink a small bit of it before it gets old outweighs the fact that bigger bottles obviously looks better on the shelf. Probably a silly question but thought it would be easily answered here. Thanks on beforehand for any answers Regards Joakim
  13. Hi there! I'm having some troubles getting my search results get to good european retailers that ships internationally. What I'm specifically looking for is decently cheap home-bar tools, not your top-end stuff but feel free to include any good shop for other people that are interrested BarProducts.com Somewhere in the range of their stuff, but seeing as it costs more to ship than the products I was looking for the european version of that one(if possible Sweden) Thanks on beforehand for any help with this! Regards Joakim
