  1. I'll second The Crown. Great service, great place, great food and drink. The Hardwick, on the old Abergavenny road is very nice too, if a little hard to find. The Lough Pool (just 'round the corner from me) is a place where i've had some good meals, though i recommended it to a colleague, whom ate well there once, though on his return - (Easter lunch, i think) was not happy with the meal/service. I haven't been there since, but have been meaning to check up... Cottage of Content at Carey is a beautiful pub with good quality food, nothing fancy, just very honest and well cooked, good produce and great service. These suggestions maybe a little late for you, but thought i'd get them up on the board... Elliott
  2. I think i'm gonna have to drop in sometime in the new year and give it a try, as soon as i get back to Ross. I'm staying with the family in Kent at the mo, where good food is nowhere near as prolific as it is on the other side of the country, IMHO. Elliott
  3. Hi All! This may seem silly to some, but has anyone tried using their electrical slow cooker/crockpot for slow roasting, as an alternative to setting a domestic oven to 53 degrees and roasting for 24 hours? I'm sure there will be replies insisting that these small domestic appliances aren't accurate enough to hold that sort of temperature for such a long period of time, but maybe with a little thermostat and pid modification? Any suggestions or input from those whom own these things will be of great assistance. Cheers, Elliott
