Close to Swarthmore: The original Margaret Kuo's Peking in the Granite Run Mall.

Pita Pocket, 16th btw Walnut & Locust. Like eating in a Jerusalem fast-food joint: hummus, falafel, schwarma (mostly chicken), schnitzel, kabobs, etc., and a self-serve bar with all the fixings you'd find in an Israeli joint: pickled carrots, eggplant, beets, olives, pickles, cabbage, etc.
Pita Pocket has been closed for a few months now, the space is currently Mi Lah Vegetarian.
Don't miss Saad's at 45th and Walnut, though I'm fighting my reluctance to send Penn undergrads tramping further west to overwhelm my favorite falafel and schwarma establishment.

Duck tongues marinated in wine also on the special menu these days at Dim Sum Garden. Highly recommended for those enthusiastic about unusual fare- I took a chance on a plate last weekend.

Had a glass last night with some Monte Enebro goat cheese from Spain. Outstanding combination: the lemony taste of the cheese perfect with the grass/hay and green apple in the wine.

No one's mentioned Prohibition Taproom, at 13th and Buttonwood (?), where I had an impressive Cassoulet back in the fall, along with a striking list of good beer, on tap and in bottles.
