  1. As does Trois, at least they did several months ago when I ate there, among the best I've had anywhere, not just Atlanta.
  2. There is a very good local food website that includes a discussion forum - atlantacuisine.com. It just so happens the forum is down right now (the first time I've seen that happen in three years), but keep checking back. I think it's the best place to go for Atlanta food discussions, far more extensive than EG or Chowhound for Atlanta-specifics. Each has its place of course. They also put out a monthly newspaper that is very nice, host coupons to local restaurants, host a restaurant job board, etc.
  3. There was a writeup in the ajc a while back about the "competition"... http://www.ajc.com/search/content/living/f.../05/090706.html Over on Atlantacuisine.com Restaurant Eugene gets more hurrahs than anywhere else in town. It is a great balance of ingredients, comfort, service, and art. (and with a more friendly pricetag than places like Bacchanalia or Seegers)

um, i'm assuming you know that pork (bacon) is off limits for anyone remotely wanting kosher?
  5. There are still a great many chefs of exceptional quality here in Atlanta, as of today ... It is remarkable that three of the city's top chefs (arguably the top three) in Seeger, Soto, and Blais have all shut down or moved out in the past, what, 6 months? Agreed there are many more excellent chefs in town, but that is a big blow to the Atlanta dining scene. I would venture that none of those three have an equal in Atlanta for what they did best - there simply is no other place like Seegers, nor like Soto, nor like Blais at his adventurous best. All the more reason to support the ones still here though, and hope for more good things to come.
  6. Just got back, a few places we hit... La Maison Bleue in Fes is excellent if pricey. Same for Le Tobsil in Marrakech - both were great meals, in great settings, with nice live musicians and excellent service. We went to the hotel restaurant at the Hivernage hotel just outside the medina in Marrakech and had a meal that blew me away (I was expecting standard hotel food) - this is a modern Moroccan hotel, and the food is a mix of Moroccan and French (see a trend here?). The highlight was the Marrakech specialty - beef tangia - cooked in a clay vase for 10 hours and spiced wonderfully. A place called Le Patio in Essaouira is fabulous French/Moroccan seafood, and very cool funky Moroccan decor. A little cafe called La Decouverte run by a French couple also offers excellent and inexpensive French/Moroccan (a seafood bstilla there was outstanding). You cant go wrong with the stands by the port selling fresh seafood that you pick and they grill up for you with lime on the side.
