-
Going to Montauk for the weekend need 3 restaurants for dinner.. Love Duryea's but am looking for something other than Gosman's or Dave's.. either great food or great views... Thanks, Dan

I happend to love this place. I ate once at a small cramped table and a few times at the bar which is much more fun. I never liked the food at pastis or schiller's and can't be bothered with Balthazar except for brunch, but I really liked the food at Morandi. Meatballs, Veal Chop, fried stuffed olives, and the pasta with lemon and cheese all delicious and keep me coming back.. plus they have a decent cheap bottle of Aglianico which always makes me happy. And it may be loud but it's fun, I can go for a million nice quiet dinners all over town but on a thursday friday or saturday night i want a little more than that with my dining experience before going out. to all the haters be damned.. best veal chop I've had in a long time.

ALL I can say is "Best Pork chop EVER" and for $36 it'd better be. Everything else was ok, but this Pork Chop beats Little Owl's which I had 2 day earlier in a heartbeat. So tender so juicy so yummy, I will be back if only for this chop as the service was not good, the place was FREEZING downstairs had to wear my jacket half the dinner, and the wines were not good.

I went to Wolfgang's a couple weeks ago and was completely underwhelmed. I had the ribeye and had both cuts of the porterhouse for 3 my friends had and thought the meat was very bland. The one good thing was the steak sauce was very nice, but at a place like that in my opinion the steak shouldn't NEED a sauce to taste. The meat was tender etc.. but NO FLAVOR. what's the point in something cutting like Buttah if it don't taste like anything. I grilled myself some shell steaks last week without anything but salt and pepper that were more flavorful than these steaks. Very dissapointing will not be going back. My best steak so far in Manhattan has been the Kobe ribeye at BLT Prime. No that was the best meat I EVER had. Granted it was $72 dollars. Next would be the special ribeye at captial grill rubbed with porcini mushrooms, at half the price of BLT not bad either. I also thought the Ribeye at Frankie and Johnnies was absolutely declicious.

There are plenty of places in the meatpacking or chelsea that aren't B&T, PM is a great spot that plays Hip Hop instead of all the House music clubs surrounding it. While Crobar and Bed and GuestHouse may be B&T Pink Elephant is mainly manhattanites but for sure you will need to get bottle service to get in there. I agree with 205 as a great place much more of an artsy crowd as opposed to the eurotrash scene you'll find at PM or Pink. Buddha Bar is also a fun spot. For a more laidback NO doorman place Passerby is a great bar where you can dance or chill it's very small but packed and anyone gets in, there is no sign but it's 15th St., between Ninth and Tenth Ave. I also second the APT as a great place, the only problem is if you go early it's easy to et into but it's dead if you go late say 1 or 2 it's tougher to get into but it's hopping downstairs. If you are looking for a more lounge place Where you can eat and get great margaritas La Esquina is a great place owned by the same guys as 205, no dancing here but a cool crowd downstairs also not easy to get into if you don't know anyone, my advice would be to try and get a dinner reservation downstairs and then just migrate to the lounge.

Ate there last night for the second time in 2 weeks. I think it's a fantastic restaurant. Had the braised shortribs which were delicious on top of the best grits I've ever tasted. Duck Confit Tacquitos to start were also very good.

went to noodle pudding, it was fantastic... ossobucco delicious and pasta with eggplant tomatoes and ricotta cheese to die for.

I'm going to a play saturday night in Dumbo at St. Anne's Warehouse.. any suggestions on restaurants? Something decently fancy, but good food is the most important criteria.

Neighborhood is the cusp of what used to be Little Italy and SoHo. Now it's NoLiTa and SoHo. Though I'm not sure what you mean by "how's the neighborhood?" The Spring Street station of the Lexington Avenue line is at the corner. There are plenty of cabs. There's new luxury housing being finished across the street and at the corner. Balthazar is around the corner (better food, but at a higher price), La Esquina is at the corner and Lombardi's pizzaria is a block away around another corner. Anyway, I haven't been there in quite a while, so I can't give you an update. ← I went there a few months ago and everything we had was fantastic, the foie gras, the filet mignon, the Lamb... the sauces were excellent, and it was terribly romantic sitting in the garden.

I went to Beppe recently and was so underhwhelmed by the service, atmosphere and most importantly the food. I ordered the Sirloin, and when it arrived I bit into a tasteless chewy piece of meat. I've never had a steak this bad at this price, $36 should have bought me something much better. I couldn't even chew this thing so I sent it back and ordered the bass. Again this was tasteless and tough to chew, which for Bass should NEVER be the case. The only thing that was enjoyable about the dish was the blood orange and fennel that came with it. Maybe I should have ordered some pasta, but my meat and fish dishes were terrible. In addition they charged me for this monstrosity of a piece of meat after telling me they would take it off the bill. I really can't stand when you can't trust the wait staff to go by their word. I will definitely never go back.
