  1. I promised to take one of my friends out for a nice birthday next Monday night. Given our respective work locations we were looking for something near the BBY/New West border. Any suggestions? Thanks
  2. My favourite recent pairing was a BC wine with local halibut - Wild Goose Autumn Gold paired with a halibut in Panang Curry. It was a magical combination of a sweet aromatic white with the spicy thai cusine. I tried to post a picture for everyone but I couldn't figure out how.
  3. I haven't been to Wickaninish recently but have been to Long Beach Lodge Resort and have nothing but raves for the experience. The accomodation was spectacular and the food amazing. I had the best Dungeness Crab I have eaten in my entire life and have on good authority (my dining partner) that the rack of lamb was equally good. Also, the fellow I went with had been to Wickininish several times and he is a HUGE convert to the Long Beach Lodge I plan to go back every opportunity I get and have recommended it to many of my friends
  4. I would add my vote to the Naramata Heritage Inn & Spa as a location. I visited this building when it was still an unoccupied building on the shores and could see the potential. It is a beautiful 1930's Art Deco inspired building right on the shores of the lake and an incredible spot for a wedding. In terms of places to visit on your honeymoon, I would recommend the Long Beach Lodge resort and spa (they have a website). I went there last year for Valentine's Day and it was one of the best vacations I have had. The accomodations were fabulous (comfortable beds, in room fireplaces and beach front views) and the food was fantastic - I had the best dungeness crab (the meat was white white) that I have ever had and paired it with the Blue Mountain Striped Label Pinot Noir (my partner was having the rack of lamb) for dinner. It is up there in the top ten of life experiences for me
  5. One of my favourite places on the island is the Blue Bayou - a little Cajun/Creole style restaurant on Brentwood Bay. Beautiful location (waterfront dock) and great cajun inspired food. Two of my favourites are the crab/shrimp cakes and the fisherman's basket. Paired with a local Chalet Gewurtz, it is a perfect way to spend a peaceful evening. Will try to get up island this summer for a visit to Chef Cartner's Tastings at the Treetop Tapas & Grill.
