I've bought these quite cheaply at the Killarney Market - they have a surprising selection of Mexican food. I've also seen 'proper' tortillas at the new Save-On at Cambie & 7th.

I picked up some of their kefir last week at the new Save-on-Foods at 7th & Cambie ... to die for!! It tastes exactly like my grandma's buttermilk / soured milk.

Thanks to advice from this board, we got a table for 2 on Friday May 11th. I've finally gotten around to sorting out our photos and compiling a report - we had a great time and loved the experience, although after reading his report, I'm a bit jealous of Dr. Sconzo! Not quite a dessert question - but every time I go to Burgoo, I hoard the candies that come in the little bamboo basket with the bill at the end of the meal. I think they're called Sperlari Caramelline. Anyone know where I can buy these? They're very yummy.

[Last Meal, Vancouver-style]

I'd start with some hot & sour soup at Wild Rice (I miss the neon squid! The tofu replacement's just not the same), then follow it up with the incredible mushroom soup at Bacchus.

Then beef carpaccio and mushroom risotto at Cin Cin.

Finally, one of everything at Patisserie Ganache, plus a case of fresh fruit jellies to go, then the sorbet trio at Feenie's.

Mmm I'm all of a sudden very hungry!

[Gingerbread Pudding and Carmel Sauce]

Made this for a dinner party last Friday - it was gone in under 5 minutes! I would make the caramel sauce thicker next time (less cream?) and maybe shape it into smaller batches for the second time in the oven. Dulce de Leche ice cream is definitely the way to go. Thanks HSG!

Lilypad Cafe next to Safeway on 10th and Sasamat. Great $3.95 breakfasts on weekends, awesome ginger beef lunch specials. Nice Korean family runs the place.

[Chi Restaurant]

Only 2 blocks from my friends' place, so had to try it. Surprised to see that such a new place would require reservations for 6 pm on a Saturday, but fortunately there was a cancellation so we got in. Bill for 4 of us, with a bottle of wine and about 10 dishes came to about $120. The Atlantic salmon was pretty terrible, and so was the marinated duck breast, but the roti and spring rolls were very tasty. My favourite has to be the creme caramel, but that's just my sweet tooth talking =) Good wine list.
