    Taro

Taro is now out of business. Sign on door says owner decided to retire
  3. Looks like gaimbotta is now closed and has or will reopen as ROME. Anyone have any information?
  4. Right! I'm not disputing that there's great street food. but I can't think of any that I would travel for when there's a roughly equivalent option close by. obviously there are people (and another site dedicated to them) which believe that there are cart arepas so much better than other arepas that they're worth traveling an hour for. I just don't buy it. if you ask me where should you get a bahn mi or falafel? I'm going to ask you where you are. there are a bunch of perfectly good sandwiches available throughout this city. IMHO, which one to get is determined purely by neighborhood. ← I'm almost sorry I posted my inquiry. I dont plan on traveling to a specific neighborhood to eat at said place. But, if I'm in the general area, then at least I have an idea of where to eat. I only have 6 meals to eat in NYC and I dont want to waste one on really crappy food( or a chain). ← I would recommend checking out www.menupages.com. . It has a way to sort by food type, area, price range or by rating(with reviews). Each restuarant has a menu with prices listed so you can judge for yourself if it is affordable. tom
  5. david There is a restaurant called the CONTINENTAL (3rd level at the pier shops at Caesars). It is sort of a tapas type place. Great for a group of people and if you like to share dishes between the group. THey make nice martinis too. If you dont like the continental there are a bunch of restuarants bars at the pier shops so you shouldnt have a problem finding something that everyone will like. Another one of my favroites(if you like craft beers and pub food) is the tun tavern. A short walk from Ballys. (Located at the sheraton..near the outlet shops) tom
  6. What about Redeye grill on 7th ave and 56th. www.redeyegrill.com
  7. We usually make a couple of trips in the fall to windy brow. We have tried the rt 94 (warwick, florida ny ) area and found the windy brow apples taste better. They have u pickem's on the weekends usually thru halloween. When you get there and walk into their building there is always the smell of fresh cider donuts and apple pies that they have just made. We always walk out with some of them too. They are also open during the week for school field trips check this website for more info http://www.njskylands.com/_windybrow.htm tom
  8. MJP The gaslight brewery in south orange usually has a flavor of the lindemans available(kreik, frambroise, or peche). My girlfriend also likes these and doesnt realize she is drinking beer. She thinks she is drinking raspberry soda tom

  10. tracey we just got back from greek delights having an early dinner before the snow. We also ordered more than we could eat so we could have leftovers for tomorrow instead of fighting the crowds at the supermarket. Btw food is still excellent. tom

  13. went to uncle nicks on saturday afternoon. Was one of the best meals we had in along time. started off with a mixed grill appetizer which has an assortment of lightly fried eggplant, zucchini, and peppers with skordalia (potatoes and garlic). main entrees where grilled halibut(perfectly cooked in wine and lemon) and a whole flounder. This was one of the best flounders i have ever eaten. I usually find flounder to be on the mushy side but the meat on this fish was cooked to perfection. We shared a baklava for desert along with greek coffee. tom

  19. getting back on the original request. Is whole foods coming to west orange? i can literally walk there from where i live. i know on their website its says they are but that is dated may 2005. nothing has been done to the old pathmark building yet. The liquor store next to the wendys moved down by FRANKS Pizza so i was hoping that maybe they would start remodeling soon. tom
  20. dknyc1 We were down there last week and found a nice casual place for the whole family called the ANCHORAGE TAVERN. its a short ride across the 9 street bridge. Its in somers point on BAY AVE. From oc cross the bridge when you come to the circle stay to the right and bay ave will be the first right. anchorage is on the left about a quarter mile on the left. They have an extensive menu and im sure you will find something for everyone. It does get busy so expect to wait about an hour or more. Theres another place up the road called THE DOCS PLACE which has some nice seafood selections but they require reservation so it might be too late to go there dont forget MACK and Mancos and KOHRS Custard and of course JOHNSONS Popcorn tom
  21. rosie you might want to add TOP NOTCH of montclair to your closed list. We went by there last saturday nite and the place was shut down. tom
  22. Lou How about letting the patron pick from a selection of sides. ie(steamed veggies, mash potatoes, french fries, garlic string beans, coleslaw, white rice, brown rice) i know that some sides might not go with the dish you are preparing but it might make the customer happier. this way they can choose the side they like. tom

    Lalezar

Musuem parking tip. If the chain is blocking the entrance near lalezar. There is another entrance on the next street that is never blocked. Go on bloomfied ave west of whole foods. Make left at next light. The entrance is a few hundred yards on the left(musuem will be on your left). I have never had any trouble doing this so far. Just park where other cars are parked tom
