  1. Having recently moved to sunny West Sussex, am impressed with the farmshops, markets, local produce etc on offer, but am yet to find a good fishmonger closeby. I'm not actually on the coast (Burgess Hill) but am close enough, so any suggestions as to where to find them? Would rather avoid Brighton, if poss..... Thanks in advance Stuart
  2. Jon what was the award? I took the missus here for an anniversary dinner a couple of weeks ago, it was ace. Couldn't ask for a better local. Considering all the crap feedback they had just after opening, they've done well.
  3. Stayed here last September on my wedding night and the night after that. Very impressed with the hotel, bar, and of course the restaurant, but I'm afraid it was all wasted on us! We'd overdone it at the wedding and couldn't stomach the rich 4 course meal I'd pre-booked, ended up mostly picking at the olives and sipping mineral water. We did ask for the cheese to be brought to the room later, which they were cool about. The bar is ace - so old school. I know - we should have had more on our minds than food, but you gotta make the most of it eh?
  4. Thanks for the tips - I'll try the butchers first! Cheers S
  5. I am sooooooo fed up with my Globals being blunter than blunt. I've tried sharpening on a wetstone and a steel but obviously lack the touch. It's time to admit defeat and take them to an expert - anyone got a recommendation in London? (West preferably!)
  6. Came across this little nugget on Ceefax this morning. Can't find any other info on the web - maybe a throwaway line to keep the local journos happy?!? London's food 'is best in world' London has been dubbed the best place to eat in the world. Gourmet, America's leading food magazine, says restaurants in the UK capital are far superior to those in Paris, Rome, and New York. The editors of the magazine, who were in London recently to sample its food, said they were "blown away" by the city's food and its restaurants. The magazine, which has a circulation of more than a million, has devoted its entire March issue to dining in London.
