  1. In my limited experience we drank Heineken with the apps and Gewurztraminer with the main dishes. However, the real surprise came with how well the beaujolais paired with the spicy food. Likely any fresh non - tannic red would pair well as to not emphasize the heat of the food. Salute! Ripasso
  2. My wife and I are going to Chianti and Florence in September and I am interested in bringing back two cases of wine. I searched the previous threads and I am quite impressed with the knowlege and wisdom of the posters. I believe that the styrofoam/cardboard wine crates are the best way to travel. Does anyone know where they can be purchaesd in Canada. Thanks for your time and cooperation. Regards, Michael

    Best Wine Under $10

My favourite red wine under $10 Cdn is actually under $7.00 at the LCBO. "Farnese- Sangiovese Dauina" is a light easy drinking red made from 100% sangiovese grapes. It has a light fruity taste and it has never met a tomato it didn't like. My second favorite red is "Quartana - Montepulciano d'Abruzzo" by Spinelli. It retails for $6.55 in Ontario. It opens up nicely if decanted whereas the Farnese is great right out of the bottle. I hope this gives you a start. Salut! Michael
