  1. I would not venture a trip and a good meal in the city given that short a window.
  2. In Argentina, many types of sausages, and stuffed breads ( not really empanadas) are regular fare before the steak and chimichurri marinade dinner :)
  3. 10 year olds edat what their parents give them. Rice & beans with some meat is norm when people can afford the meat - Seafood in coastal areas. Bananas too -

  5. Bond Girl: If you are not a Chef, then how much of a capital are you putting up as a percentage ? A good Chef would also want a piece of the action. Finally, it is about the cuisine - You'll have to first do Market survey before even fleshing out a business plan. Uno mil sounds a bit low - Interiors and furnishings itself can soak up a sizeable % of your capital.
  6. If it was not a restaurant, then maybe the fish was kept in crushed ice mixed with sea salt. Depending on the time of the year, Galinhas can get hot, so daily catch is quickly sent to Recife. I'm glad you enjoyed.
  7. You are not referring to Rodizio Rico? A churrascaria style place ? Many Brazilian BBQs tend to be tad more salt that folks in Europe can handle - But then we also tend to wash it down with beer. Rico is OK, nothing too great. Is this the place on Westbourne Grove? I walk past it quite regularly and sometimes there are good smells coming out. If it is not complteely terrible I might give it a go. I think that's the one - no its not terrible at all.
  8. Welcome !!! You and I will be photographed and fingerprinted because our gummint does it to the Brazilians :( In two weeks time I'll be headed to GRU (Sao Paluo) too reciprocity
  9. Just there till the Carnival

I wonder if this was used as an ethnic put-down and se***l objectification of my folks --- I'll let Andy P be the judge
  11. Indian curry places, Carribean takeout, North African plate lunches...... and maybe fast food It depends on where your hotel/abode is.
  12. Yes this very true. But also in the interior carne and mostly pork is very popular. But in the border and hilly places they love lamb stew. Portugal has a complex about food compared to Espana.
  13. And you would know this from whom, Milady ? Every year we have something. We have joke about vitamin V one year and we call it Dole fruit [ YHes, I know Dole is not the samy as the company ]
  14. It is unfair to evaluate and talk about peruvian food in terms of restaurants. yes, they have it -- but much of peruano flavour and beauty lies in the smaller cantinas.
  15. I think because the Portugese make a nice drink in goa colony with cashew.
  16. Every family has a way of making Feijoada I like my grandma, not my mother's preparation. But is best is mine - I put a bit of cachaca in the half way into the cooking.
  17. Many of my family have never looked at a cookbook - All is based on word-to-mouth. As a young and growing person, I never knew what we would have till the daily shopping was done. Some day meat, some day fish always fresh.
  18. When we were home-sick or we wanted to get together, we headed to "40 Degrees" on Upper Richmond Rd. However, I found the restaurant to be a bit over rated by many I think many cariocas tend to forgive the establishment. All in all, the restaurant made sure that the cariocas or paulistas are pampered, thereby shuck the rest. This is my opinion
