Saw in today's National Post that, due to rising rent, Ruth Klahsen may be shuttering Monforte Dairy this winter. Story here.

I can't even begin to express how disheartened I am by this news. I view Klahsen as one of Ontario's premier cheese makers. I guess I'll have to enjoy the products while they last.

Some fortunate news...http://www.thestar.com/living/article/513305

Ruth will thankfully be remaining open. She is currently searching for a new home for Monforte.

So I see that TasteTO is reporting that the deal has fallen through and Monforte will be closing after all. However, plans are still proceeding for Klahsen to reopen next year, with plans to raise money by selling 2,000 shares at $500 each.

I would buy a share or two, if it is really a share that can be sold and bought over the counter. I would not donate $500 unless there was a prospect of resale.

She was around Stratford and my school this past week for a tasting class and mentioned she was eying a property in the Waterloo area.
