Green Leaf in the I. D.

It's my understanding (thanks, mamster!) that the entire staff has gone to China and VietNam for a holiday.  Maybe they'll bring back some cool new recipes.

Oh, this is too bad... After reading all the posts about this place, I have been meaning to go there for a while, and had finally scheduled with a friend to go up there this week...looks like that will have to wait! (glad I lurk around here and found out, though, rather than getting up there and being disappointed)

To hijack this thread - anyone been to Made In Kitchen - Asian Bistro - 701 8th (I think). Very attractive, Vietnamese-Thai-Malay food. Like an upscale Malay Satay/Tamarind Tree.

They package salt for to go items as the food is not heavily salted. But the Malay eggplant was seriously hot, without added peppers. High quality, good flavors.

I made a hopeful trip there today and it was still closed. I drove home and left a voice mail for Peter. I've never done this for any other restaurant. Let's plan a "welcome back, Green Leaf" event and fill the place.

Their menu seems to be slightly larger since they came back. They now have 3 kinds of crab-tamarind, salt and pepper and ginger onion-on the menu! The owner is SO nice, he brought out little nibbles of grilled meat for all of us waiting and waiting for a table last weekend, and he thanked us many times for being patient.

Just a heads up-go early or be prepared to wait, even on weekdays. We waited ages last weekend and even last night (thursday), an estimated 15 minute wait was actually 45 (we arrived at 6:40). When we left at 8:15 there were still about 20 people out front waiting.
