Pioneer Sq places to eat

Recommended Posts

I second Cafe Paloma, probably the best Turkish food in town. There's also Ibiza for something nicer and Collins Pub for good burgers and such.

Most women don't seem to know how much flour to use so it gets so thick you have to chop it off the plate with a knife and it tastes like wallpaper paste....Just why cream sauce is bitched up so often is an all-time mytery to me, because it's so easy to make and can be used as the basis for such a variety of really delicious food.

Unless you have tickets to The Game, stay away this Sunday.

Ooh Carmine used to make the BEST veal

second the rec for Mae Phim, used to eat there at least twice a week when I worked in the area.

Collins Pub is a tiny bit of a walk, but good burgers and Mac & Cheese.

What is Julie's Garden? I thought I knew all the lunch spots. And Little Ms. Foodie, what do you like at Med Mix?

If you aren't working too far south or east in Pioneer Square and have the time, consider walking up to the Market. I work a block north of PS and the choices (people here have given you the only good ones) in PS got old pretty quick for me, but the lunch options at the Market are endless.

On a nice day, there's no more relaxing place to eat your take-out in PS than the Waterfall Garden Park. Or, it's a good place for a coffee break (Zeitgeist is nearby).

Totally agree, kiliki. If the tables are packed at Salumi, I sometimes take my sandwich over to the Waterfall Garden. This amazing little waterfall niche can transport you to the mountains instantly. A wonderful retreat in the city. Now we have only to wait for summer....

I can second the recommendations of Zaina, Grand Central and Mae Phim. For pretty good (and fast and cheap'ish) soups, salads and sandwiches, I also like Soup Daddy (on Occidental Ave. north of Occidental Square). And when you just need to satisfy a bbq fix (it happens), Longhorn works (on 1st).
