If it's the place I'm thinking of Keoku is on the eastbound side in Parsippany right at the border of Pine Brook. When you walk in there is a sushi bar on the left and the right side is a Korean sit down restaurant. I had sushi on a Mon afternoon about a year ago. I hope we're talking about the same place.

Sounds like the same place, 46 eastbound, just east of the I-80 crossovers, and next to the new Land-Rover dealer.

Dee and I went there once. Korean bbq was OK, place was empty. No special reason to go back. Sit down restaurant, on the right as you walk in.

Apparently it's easier still to dictate the conversation and in effect, kill the conversation.

Yes, same place. I was questioning your thought process of having sushi on a Monday (fresh from reading Kitchen Confidential).

I don't think Bourdain was talking about sushi in particular. Obviously at a sushi bar if you can look at the fish you should be able to tell what's fresh by sight and texture of the way the sushi chef cuts his fish. I could see fish entrees perhaps being carried over from Friday ( Although a good restaurant usually under-orders fish so as to rum out by Sun night, I'm usually out of all my fish specials by Sat 8:00. I get complaints about this but my simple explanation is that I keep everything fresh so I order to run out earlier and not carry fish for more than a 2 day period). Remember Bourdain told stories of his many years in the business in many different retaurants. He had bosses who told him what to do and some of these boosses were bottom line people not interested in customers happiness or health but dollar sense.

Monday is tough, but one of the better restos in the area, Citrus Grille, in Airmont NY is open. This is right over the NJ-NY line and is only 20 minutes from Haworth. Here is the website: Citrus Grille Website

Otherwise, you can do Moon Street, Dean St & Palisade Ave, in Englewood. A much more casual place.

If you can see to driving to Montclair, about 35 minutes, Epernay is open. A very good resto also. Epernay Website

Village Green Restaurant, 36 Prospect Street, Ridgewood (BYO) 201-445-2914.

their old crappy website says they're not open on monday, but i called and they said it's from years ago, and the people at njdiningguide.com don't seem to want to remove it. that's not very nice, as i've wanted to go on monday several times but thought they were closed.

Natalie's of Ridgewood is open Monday.  haven't been, but might try it soon.

Funny, I just started a thread asking about Natalie's earlier Monday. It looks like a deli, but they get big big prices-- I've never been, but what makes this deli with tables worth $40 Per Person for a meal? Natalie's Thread
