I would also get "Cocolat"

This was one of the first cookbooks I ever owned and I bought it long before I even thought I would attend culinary school and become a pastry chef. The recipes are not "easy" but certainly do-able by a novice (as I was at the time). I had no tools or machinery and often replaced ingredients with what was readily available and the tortes/cakes/mousses all came out well...and very delicious! I highly recommend this book.

2 copies of Cocolat on e-bay right now and 3 at www.alibris.com although they are really expensive on alibris.

Life is a rush into the unknown. You can duck down and hope nothing hits you, or you can stand tall, show it your teeth and say "Dish it up, Baby, and don't skimp on the jalapeños."
