Michelin Guide 2006

Recommended Posts

I talk myself out if it every 5 minutes, one day it'll get the better of me.

Oh go on, go on, go on, Sir. If the pasty Yorkshire man-Marshall can do it

And he is working soo hard too. I left him a message about an imminent visit to his Pub next week. Text response" Hi mate, what can I do for you I am in Barbados" Bastard :raz:

i can assure you it's the monday - friday job that pays for the holidays not the pub, that just leaves you with a letter box full of bills to welcome you home!

I wonder if anyone can help?

I seem to remember last year that Le Guide was released on a friday, However we got a press release on the wedensday night. Probably to allow the media to carry the story on the thursday, Do P.R companies get prior knowledge?

I ask this beacause the press release was not supposed to be available until 8.30 on the thursday morning. Will it be the same scenario this year?

kinda.

My understanding is that the release goes up at 8.30 tomorrow morning. Various PRs and restaurateurs will be making calls to and receiving them from michelin around the same time.

Interesting Daniel Galmiche has won back the * for Cliveden lost when Clive Fretwell moved in.

Also two real veterans losing * - Chewton Glen and Adlards. A shame...

Don't have much disagreement on the espoir for Greenhouse, given what I've heard about the place. Bet Tom Aikens and Marcus Wareing will be pissed off though.

cheers

J

Well Done Ginger Chef! Excellent news.

Personally shocked and disappointed for Petrus.

I went into a French restaraunt and asked the waiter, 'Have you got frog's legs?' He said, 'Yes,' so I said, 'Well hop into the kitchen and get me a cheese sandwich.'

Vineyard and Greenhouse are rising stars so have still only got one star at the moment.

Sorry - its not clear from the press release (rising star - new to me)

Add Fraiche, Altalntic & The Harrow to the list: on their way to one

Would someone mind posting the Bibs on here as I can't seem to download them?

Prior thanks.

It's a funny old catagory, a bit of a tease really. It must be very frustrating for the restaurants, especially if they don't get the promotion the following year. They introduced it in the guide to France last year (Le Meurice for example is a rising three star) and this is the first time they've used it in the UK.

Kevin Thornton is rumoured to be considering a move out of the Fitzwilliam Hotel. This should make up his mind for him. And Michelin continues to have a complete blindspot when it comes to Chapter One.

And Patrick McDonald at Paris in Birmingham, too. Just been upped to four AA rosettes and still nothing from Michelin. Compare that to the ludicrous award of a fourth rosette to Michael Deane's eponymous restaurant in Belfast (who already has a star) and it kind of makes a mockery of both guides in my eyes.
