Hi all

just got back from this great place I found out about on the NY thread...Barnstormer BBQ in Newburgh NY just up the thruway a couple of exits. Since some of NJ is closer to Newburgh than NYC is I just wanted to give them some coverage here. The food is great and close enough if you highway it but those that go antiquing or leaf peeping may know some great driving roads up there too.....well the food is great ....see here

Avoid cutting yourself while slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold them while you chop away.

We go all the time on the way back from our house-being-built to our current house in NJ. It's a mile off the exit, really easy to get to, and very tasty..

Okay, Tracey's review of our trip on Saturday is on the New York forum and so are the pixs, since it's a real pain to post them and I already did it once, and it came out weird, but it is true Q porn.

So go check it out and those of you who punked out ...nahnahnahnah.

PS. Tommy, thanks for the help.

Some of NJ is closer to Philadelphia, Wilmington and Baltimore than NYC.

True. And Newburgh, being 40 miles up the Thruway, is further from NJ than all the very good restos dotting the border just in Rockland. Xaviars, Relish, Citrus Grille, just to name a few. They are in Rockland because of the much more liberal liquor licensing availabilities in NY State.

Sorry rooftop. Somehow I missed the fact you guys were going up. I'm thinking of taking my ride up there this weekend maybe with a couple of other bikers. Sounds like a nice ride to take with a good dinner at the end.

While I must admit Citrus Grille is a damn tasty resatuarant...the lobster pot pie cost a whole lot more than a plate of ribs

MMmm more ribs, but even more important.... The bestest hottest damn shrimp I've ever had.

1 pound of tender little peel and eat shrimp doused with about 1/2 cup of chopped garlic and a HOT dressing that seems to be hot sauce and oil. Its the kind of heat that hits the tip of your tongue and stays there as you slurp all the dressing off each shrimp, then peel it, then run it back through the dressing and eat. Yes you must double dip so eat with a loved one or get your own order.

Sorry, but this is the NJ forum, and restaurants in NY are to be discussed on the NY forum. As this place already has a thread on the NY forum (link in first post), I'm just going to close this thread. Please refrain from posting about restaurants in other states in the NJ forum, even if their proximity makes it tempting. Thank you.
