Your favorite 'classic' combination

Recommended Posts

onions and mushrooms are always stellar. you could have anything short of dried onion powder and canned mushrooms and its still great. dill and salmon are starting to close the gap, tho. it takes a nice piece of salmon, but if you have it, its one of the best tastes imaginable.

i suppose it depends upon what its on as to what my fav combo is..if pizza..much as i love pepperoni it doesnt always love me so sometimes i go for the veggie supreme..hold the bell pepper add pineapple....but if i want less than that and still a veggi version...mushrooms and black olives...sometimes onions....

in an omlete...cheese and mushrooms all the way make my cheese the good old american...some people may scream over that cheese choice but to me it tastes great and its not about what others like its about what i personally like

other combos pretty much are dictated by the mood of the moment and god help me every now and again i really crave something very basic like hash browns witha a fried egg on top...egg cooked so the yolks are still runny and can go over the hash browns when i break it

after that the combo is surf and turf....with plenty of surf even more if its shrimp even though i love lobster and crab as well...but if u can get all you can eat on the shrimp..hey there...keep it coming til i cant eat any more...... ...yummmmmy

I have lots of combos that just seem made in heaven:

Onions and Garlic always work well together, obviously.

Mushrooms and sage, Mushrooms and bourbon (butter helps this)

Cranberry and Rasberry (aided by clove, nutmeg, and cinnamon)

Liverwurst, onion, and mustard (sandwhich made in heaven)

Sauerkraut and Carraway (add some pork and you've got a meal)

Mayo, beef, and cheese

French fries, old bay seasoning, mayo, and malt vinegar

umm, lots more, certain things just beg for other things to round out and complete the taste experience...

Ditto on the BLT.

Tomatoes with a sprinkling of salt or a dollop of mayonnaise or some fresh mozzarella.

Cheddar cheese and peanut butter on crackers.

Vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup.

Poultry stuffing with sage.

Any sandwich with Dijon mustard, except a hoagie, on which good old yellow mustard works better.

Hot dogs and sauerkraut.

Cottage cheese and hot sauce!

Another vote for BLT

oops and cheese steak on a VERY good toasted sub roll, with fried onion and lots of melted american cheese. And it has to be greasy - not dry!
