Best Cioppino in SF

I am going to be in SF for the Fancy Foods Show, and I haven't been there in years. One night I'll be eating at Chez Panisse, but for the other night, I'm looking for the best Cioppino in the city that is not too touristy. I love Boullibaise, Zuppa de pesce, and any other synonym for Cioppino, and since SF is supposedly famous, I want to see if there is one that beats some of the other great ones I've had. Any insight is appreciated.

Also, I'm looking for some good lunch spots near the Moscone Center where the Show is at.

Thanks

Randall may know these better than I do, but I am looking at these when I'm in the city:

Restaurant LuLu (I know, he mentioned it, this is from my e-mail to a friend about that week)

4th and Folsom, dinner only

Bizou

I loved this web site, and I love the tidbits I read there. I want to go there.

Tuesday, Fringale:

Chef Marc Rasic is a love, and he made the best chicken I may ever have eaten, at a dinner in a fig orchard. I don't think I will be there on Tuesday, unless perhaps I stay over on Monday evening.

Maya

A loyal eG'er sent me a good rec for Maya, and hadn't had an "unmemorable" meal there at all. Recommended: "sopa de elote (roasted corn soup with huitlacoche dumplings). Also pipian de puerco -- pork tenderloin marinated in tamarind sauce."

At night, it's easier to get out a bit more.

tanabutler-

are you going for the fancy food show too?  What was the Tuesday notation with Fringale?  Or is that for any Tuesday for a special?

I am trying to get up there for part of one day, if I can.

Fringale is only doing Dine Around Town on Tuesday.

If you go there, just ask Marc Rasic to baste you. You will be very very happy.

Where are you coming from? Exhibiting or attending?

Just curious as a So Cal interloper into this topic, are the reasons an institution like Scoma's does not show up in these reccos due to quality/price reasons? Too "touristy"? Something else? I enjoyed a meal there ten years ago; the broth was tasty, the seafood fresh. I seem to read nothing but knocks against it from the foodie set. What gives? Are others just that much better?
