Cooks and Books Visiting Chef Dinners

Recommended Posts

The response to these dinners by eGulleteers has been terrific. The Bourdain event should be an eGala. There has been less attention paid to the Anne Willan party at Kaspar's. Give it some thought. It's next Monday, the 18th. The new book, The Good Cook, looks gorgeous and this is only a $95 dinner. Willan inspires great devotion from her students. Her La Varenne Practique is used as a textbook at many culinary schools and the new title is meant as a "course for home cooks". So, call Kaspar's at 206 298-0123. I'm delighted I'll be seeing you, soon.

Judy:

Any word yet on when Thomas Keller is coming to Seattle? I see he's on the schedule for Copia in Napa Valley for November 5.

I have the Bouchon book on my Amazon wishlist for Christmas gifts, but if Keller is coming any time soon, I can be patient.

I highly recommend this book. It is very much on the level of LaRousse Gastrominique or The New Making of a Cook: The Art, Techniques, and Science of Good Cooking. Her new book is worth looking into.

Unfortnately, we can't attend this dinner.

From the Cooks and Books website:

Anthony Bourdain spent years creating some oath best French Bistro food in New York at Les Halles.

Is it just me, or is it ironic that the word "oath" creeps into a mention of someone who famously swears like a sailor? :)

We just confirmed our reservations last night at Serafina for the Andrea Immer dinner on Monday Nov. 15th. Is anyone else going to this one? If so and you'd like to sit together I can call and arrange us an eGullet table. The dinner is at 6:30.

I would go were I not far far far too broke-ass. I'll chock this one up as being a sacrifice for my art. Or something.

it was fabulous, incredible, and wonderful, and I was a shameless groupie. *SIGH*

Thanks to Tamara Murphy for putting on quite a fete, it couldn't have been easy to pull that off. Thanks to Kim Ricketts and Judy Amster, who orchestrated this fine event.

And thanks to Tony, for showing up and being gracious and accomodating and entertaining and for all the pics and autographs and the story about some guy in a lamé thong teabagging everything in sight. Or something like that..

Looking forward to the new show, AND to making something from the Les Halles cookbook, as soon as my cut off thumb heals.
