You're meeting your lover for a secret rendezvous

So much to think about nowadays with a rendezvous:

perhaps a brief checklist?

cash or credit card?

reservations?

Food? vegan, ovo lacto veg, low fat, low carb, too much fibre, not enough fibre ...

breath mints for Italian garlicky snacks?

clothing? optional?

getaway car? enough petrol?

pager and cell? .. on or vibrate?

Plugra and/or Viagra? doctor phone number for too much Viagra?

paper knapkins for greasy hands, lips, if fried chicken option is selected?

GG, what the hell kind of rendezvous are you having??????

By the way, Phaelon...cappuccino is also very romantic. Especially if one's beloved makes a little heart shape with the foam and coffee swirl on top...

Needless to say - all the basis were covered. I cracked up when I saw that someone had brought fried chicken!

great minds think alike!

Gotta love it!

This thread had the SO looking at me very strangely late last night. He asked me if I was hungry and couldn't understand why that made me laugh so hard I cried. :raz::laugh: Totally changed the mood though!

GG, of all the postings I've read of yours in the brief time I've been logging onto eGullet, this subject seems to truly involve you and bring out many sides of your creativity.

It could be that the time has come for you to write a novella. I personally think it would be wonderful! You could perhaps (as the author/journalist) wander from tryst to tryst as the protagonists try their various approaches to this 'touchy' subject, regaling your readers with their quiet stories....

Oh, do! This is maybe another area you are gifted in....seriously....!

Then post it as a main story on eGullet...

What fun!

Perhaps you may have missed my initial foray (in public anyway ...) into sensual food writing ... enter only if you are 18 years of age or older .. which comes with the disclaimer that my writing carries a mature readers only warning ...

And I have just accepted a position with eGullet, this very day, which I know will require me to use much more discretion in my posting ... although I have been known to sneak in a bit of bawdy humor, albeit sub rosa (whoever she is!)

Congratualations on your new position (oh, no...now I am seeing double-entendres everywhere!). It is well-deserved. You add a lot of interesting and involving subject matter to the site....

Now I have decided my answer to this secret rendezvous question. It was not easy, after reading all these mouth-watering (!), thoughtful responses.

I would bring my latest favorite cookbook for reading together, a really good bottle of wine for drinking together, and the local phonebook.

He would bring (along with the usual one imperative item that I assume he carries with him at all times...now guess what that would be...) an idea of what sort of take-out food he likes and the ability to pay for what we ordered.

(Ah! Sexist, yes?!) (Pah!)

For sometimes, just like the old joke, my favorite recipe is take-out....

what a prescient topic...having just returned from a vacation my SO couldn't take with me - every moment together has felt stolen.

ripe juicy fruit. tomatoes from the garden, strawberries and perfect peaches are personal favorites. cream optional.

from overheard in new york:

Kid #1: Paper beats rock. BAM! Your rock is blowed up!

Kid #2: "Bam" doesn't blow up, "bam" makes it spicy. Now I got a SPICY ROCK! You can't defeat that!

OK, potential NC-17 rating: If you are easily offended, now would be a good time to click the little back arrow button.

Hmmm. If my lover were male, I'd vote for chocolate mousse. It seems useful, and of course, exceedingly sensual. Hell, with the chocolate mousse there, I might not need the lover  Maybe some lamb chops for reganing strength. I like the idea of offering the lover a bite while I hold the bone....

Kinda like the old grape offering scenario.

And shiraz. Don't forget the shiraz.

If my lover were female, cantelope, strawberries, honeydew melon and mangos.

There is something exceedingly appealing about the thought of sharing each bite of lucious fruit with said lover, and licking up the inevitable drips of juice, or sliding the satiny fruit over soft, smooth skin. And having the favor returned, for that matter. A Grand Regnard Chablis seems apros pro. Perfect for..... sipping.

Roast chicken for something more substantial, as its also a good candidate for eating and sharing with fingers.

well, yes. Shiraz is really my fav for just about anything, but I do (obviously) like variety :raz: That, and the bottle that the Regnard Chablis comes in is shapely, like a woman. Better with melon too, I think.

Gosh, now I'm... thirsty!!

I realized one other thing shortly after my previous post. I'll broach the subject, because I (faultily) trust people on eG for advice. Caveat: I've never personally met an eG-er.

So... my hot-weather secret rendezvous went south... and not the hoped-for way. Suggestions for tweaks?

For champagne, I prefer Bellefon, but that's because it's remarkably tasty and within my occasional price range.

Rendez-vous with someone different?? Food sounds good, as an eG'er we know you're not the problem, therefore must be the other person.

As the song says: "its too damn hot. want to 'sup with my baby tonight..well you can have my baby tonight...its too damn hot."

Wait till the weather breaks.

P.S. ditch the wet wipes. use tongue.

Menu was just perfect!!

Strawberries and champagne.

It worked for Scott Peterson.

Not to kill the mood of the thread, but isn't that sort of one-off of saying "Electric Kool-aid worked for Jim Jones"?

Uhhhh.... I think that was grape (purple) Kool-Aid that Jim Jones served up.

One might consider bringing "Electric Kool-Aid" to a rendezvous but amorous activities would likely digress into mutual staring at blades of grass and pondering the nature of the universe a short while after quaffing a cup

I think Ecstasy along with a couple of hits of Viagra replaced the dear old acid test these days, I'm afraid to tell ya... although I have a certain nostalgia for old school. Hence I would do it Stones style, a la Marianne Faithfull - a bottle of Jack and a Mars Bar

What I remember from early mornings as a checkout girl at the grocery store...he usually had bagels, cream cheese, orange juice, champagne and a tan line where his wedding ring belonged.
