This is an interesting article.

Michelle Hunt, founder of The Martini Club, calls people like d'Entremont "cocktail curious." As drinking cocktails has become a bona fide hobby, nearing the legitimacy of oenology or scotch snobbery, they are the new foodies -- "drinkies" perhaps -- with the same kind of mob rule. One year, the lichee martini is all the rage; the next, it's the caipirinha. Since the possible mixes are infinite, it's a hobby with great legs.
