DENVER, April 7 (Reuters) - Brewing magnate Peter Coors will run for the the Republican nomination to fill the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Ben Nighthorse Campbell, Colorado Gov. Bill Owens said on Wednesday.

The announcement about Coors, chairman of Golden, Colorado-based Adolph Coors Co.'s (RKY) Coors Brewing Co., came as a surprise. However, some in the Republican Party were keen to find a candidate other than former U.S. Rep. Bob Schaffer, who announced his candidacy last month.

Now I wonder if he is elected, will there be a Senatorial sort of name for a commemorative brew? :biggrin:
