I was looking arround the other day at famous chefs websites...............and it got me wondering?

Which and or who has the best web sites? Pierrre Gagnaires is pretty cool and Guy Savoy has an interesting one BUT who in your opinion has the best and most informative one out there??

http://toddenglish.com/ (Is he also an underwear model? I wonder.)

Jean Georges Vongerichten : http://jean-georges.com/ (Oh-so-annoying with the Flash and the music that, apparently, can't be shut off unless you mute your speakers.)

http://www.charlietrotters.com/ (Very attractive design)

Paul Bocuse : http://www.bocuse.fr/

Jamie Oliver: http://www.jamieoliver.com/diary/index.html

http://www.jacquespepin.net/ (I didn't know he was a painter.)

He is something of a Renaissance Man in fact! He has a lot of varied interests and some of them were in evidence at the wedding celebration of his daughter Claudine at the Yale Chapel and ensuing dining festivities... he did the cuisine and the invitations, etc. etc ..

This is a lovely article on Jacques Pepin and demonstrates his agility in many areas ...

Thanks, GG. I had not seen this.

Let me join in the Chorus - I have a deep affection for the man, though I've never met him. La Technique was my bible as a young teen - I tore through it cover to cover and see even now the dog eared pages and food stains of work, encouraged by a master. Reading The Apprentice brought it further home.

Many long years, Chef. Thanks.

Is there a difference between "chefs' websites" and "restaurant sites"?

I think so. I also think the chef sites, in general, are a higher caliber, with more information in general, than your average restaurant site. And being a professional web designer, I really really think there is a dearth of good websites for restaurants. I can't believe what people have told me they were charged for their sites.

Somewhere at eGullet, there is a link about restaurant sites.

I wish they would all dish the Flash and the automatic music. That stuff is so annoying.

What impressed me was this:

The ability to make a vegan menu sound this tempting must be an indicator of considerable creativity ...

His tasting menus look quite exciting!
