I think just BYOB is too general a category, probably 85% of the restaurants in NJ are BYOB. Could you narrow the field a bit by location, type of food, or another criterion that won't leave a list of 300 restaurants?

I'm looking for the place you love and continue to go back to because it's dpendable and the food is consistant and always great.

Well, it's not in Bergen or Passaic counties, but you just described La Isla, in Hoboken.

Overheard at the Zabar’s prepared food counter in the 1970’s:

Woman (noticing a large bowl of cut fruit): “How much is the fruit salad?”

Counterman: “Three-ninety-eight a pound.”

Woman (incredulous, and loud): “THREE-NINETY EIGHT A POUND ????”

Counterman: “Who’s going to sit and cut fruit all day, lady… YOU?”

Newly updated: my online food photo extravaganza; cook-in/eat-out and photos from the 70's
