HARD LIVER BARLEY WINE FEST

Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, 7-9 pm

FEE: $20 in advance; $25 at the door

No it's not a wine -- it's beer. In fact, it's a strong dark beer with an alcohol content that ranges from 9-13% (more than some wines, in fact.) One of only three barley wine festivals on the West Coast, this event is designed for both afficionados and newbies alike with more than 20 breweries -- from Washington, Oregon, California and Montana -- represented. Admission entitles you to ten tastes, light refreshments, a small silent auction and the opportunity to try something new and delicious.

Tickets are available at the Phinney Neighborhood Center and at Bottleworks, 1710 N 45th St. For more information, call (206) 633-BIER.

HOPS & PROPS: AN ELEGANT MICROBREW TASTING EXPERIENCE (Featured Event)

Time: 7:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.

Forty-five craft breweries from throughout the West will come to the Museum to share their specialties. Come and sample the finest examples of the brewer’s art while learning more about beer than you ever imagined knowing from the expert brewmasters on hand. Gourmet comestibles will be provided by Catering by McCormick and Schmicks, coffee by Tully’s. Guest entry will include music, all sample tastes, food selections, a commemorative tasting glass, an educational tasting guide and access to the Museum galleries.

Note: All attendees must be 21 years of age. Identification in the form of a valid photo ID will be required for entry.

Tickets are $50 per person. Some tickets will be available at the door, but space is limited, and advance reservations are strongly recommended. Advance tickets can be purchased at the Museum Store, or reservations can be made by e-mail or phone at 206-764-5720, ext. 218.
