Jimmy Buffett

(for Don Blanding, Wobby Weimer & "Groovula")

I come from where the rivers meet the sea

That's part of why I'm so wild and fancy free

I was early into crazy ways

My folks said, "It's just a phase"

They were hoping for better days

Now in my line of work I seem to see a lot more than most

Write 'em down, pas 'em around

It's the gospel from the coast

Reflections, not just replays

Takin' time to escape the maze

Lookin' for better days

I spent a year of my life one night

On the beaches in old Beirut

Seems that all they're aimin' for there

Is to hang around and shoot

Each others' lives away

Bloody winds on a distant bay

they're lookin' for better days

Looking to the left, looking to the right

Looking to the stars to shed some light

Hoping for a breath, hoping for break

Hopin' for the give without the take

The dreamers line the state road

Just to watch the runway show

Slouched behind their steering wheels

They just watch the big jets go

Streakin' through the morning haze

Focal point of a distant gaze

Lookin' for better days

(INSTRUMENTAL)

Pale invaders and tanned crusaders

Are worshiping the sun

On the corner of "walk" and "don't walk"

Somewhere on US 1

I'm back to livin' Floridays

Blue skies and ultra-violet rays

Lookin' for better days

I'm back to livin' Floridays

Blue skies and ultra-violet rays

Lookin' for better days, lookin' for better days

Lookin' for Floridays

Better days, better days

Everybody's lookin' for better days

Somewhere beneath the shining star

Better days, won't you take me to better days

Better days, I sure could use a few better days

robyn, this is where we hang out on the beach, smoke cigars, drink rum & eat seafood

not everyone there smokes cigars; or smokes @ all

kinda of a 9 day Beach Party for Adults; you're welcome to come & not smoke, but thought it fair to warn people that most of us will be smokin' fine cigars

The cigars aren't a problem. Hanging out on the beach in the middle of the summer is (after you've lived in Florida for over 30 years - your skin just says - "PLEASE DON'T"). But thanks for the information. And remember your sunscreen! Robyn

Not to worry, we won't hang out on the beach the whole time, will have lots of umbrellas & sunscreen; plus balconies at the hotel.

Perhaps you'll want to hook up with us for an evening of dining? Will let you know when we get the details hammered out.

Lots of people will just come for one of the weekends.

With that name...

There better be some black-market Cubans there...

It sounds like a good time...if I lived in FL, I'd be there. It's actually been about two weeks (!) since I've had tabaco, but I do like one now and then, ESPECIALLY with a fine rum. I have a bunch of puppies aging in my mini-humidor...and I'm getting the itch!

Have fun there,

Bruce

PS-I guess I should try to remember that I'm a member of the cigar weekly forum, too...I haven't been there in months...

This sounds like a good excuse to spend some time drinking some rum and enjoying a cigar. Wish I could make it down, maybe next year. Too bad 7 and a half feet of draft is a little too much for the local water in north Florida. But since I can't make it, please have one for me.
