Entry #1:

"Snowangel, I know you love the lake and all that, but aren't you freezing? It's a little late in the season. Why don't you head back up to the cabin and shuck some corn for later?"

Entry # 2:

Blue Before Lunch

I hate this damn dress.

Blue on blue, “so flattering” says Mother;

Oh, Mother, could you see me now,

Piling peaches on plums for this afternoon’s picnic

Which I dread, I dread, I dread

The monotony, the talk, the talk

Of light on water, which blue to use,

The latest display at the Academy, and

Who slept with who to get on the walls;

The erection of great art starts prone, after all,

And only comes to light after repeated thrusting

Of brush into palette, knife onto canvas.

You will talk, and talk, and talk,

Of color and line and stroke

And how to capture the curve of my thigh,

But I will think of other things;

The fuzz of the peach, the sheen of the plum,

And imagine the pit within, unseen, unpainted.

You win!~

Don't say that!

Here's a less high-brow version:

There once were two painters from Paris

In love with a lady named Maris;

"Come lunch with us, lass,

And show us your ass,

And we'll do what e'er you dare us!"

Okay, the 2nd line I'm not happy with--couldn't find another good rhyme for Paris and dare us.

the one and only Dennis Miller ... now he would have just the right caption!!)

I think Dennis Miller would allude to the past lifetimes of Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore and Bruce Willis...but I can't imagine who the woman in the water would be...

What great timing! I was in our company 'library' and picked up a copy of the October 6, 2003 edition of People magazine. On page 144, there is a story about J. Seward Johnson and his life-sized sculpture of this very painting in Hamilton, NJ.

See it here.

Demi would be the woman in the water. Kim Cattrall would be au naturelle.

Yes miss, Louie and I are fascinated by your New Empress© line of clothing and we’d be thrilled to finance the manufacturing and marketing of your product. We’re anxious to see the streets of Paris filled with young women fashionably attired like you, as opposed to, say, that woman over there who looks bigger than a rowboat in those frumpy rags.
