Snacking while eGulleting...(Part 1)

Egg salad with fresh tarragon on sourdough baguette. Tomato slices. Water.

I never used to eat egg salad when I was little cause' I thought the other kids would make fun of me for eating "smelly" food. I thought that about tuna salad too. Now I love both, and I don't care if I'm stinky.

nishin no konbu maki

it is a fish (nishin, not sure of English name) rolled up in a long strip of konbu (kelp) tied with gourd strips and then simmered in a soy based sauce.

This was lunch along with hiyayakko (cold tofu), eaten about 10 minutes ago.

I seem to get inspired to add to this thread when I'm eating midnight snacks (I suppose because I'm usually online at the same time! ).

Tonight: maccherone alla carbonara. This one turned out especially well, probably because I finally bought and used pancetta instead of my usual bacon-because-it's-in-the-house.

This might be a topic for a separate thread, but how do you make your carbonara? I have always heard it is traditionally just eggs, bacon/pancetta/cured-pork-product (which? guanciale?), grated cheese. But occasionally I hear dissenting voices.....just wondering.

My restaurant blog: Mahlzeit!

Orange Juice and microwave macaroni and cheese.

The all-orange meal.

Has anyone ever actually seen a bandit making out?

Uh-huh: just as I thought. Stereotyping.

A mini Reese's peanut butter cup that I swiped from HR.

Tonight I suspect I'll be eating chicken of some stripe.
