In my experience, it's pretty noisy. The back room is much quieter.

True, but I always like to sit under that big ol' tree—even if on occasion it means practicing my lip-reading skills.

A back-room anecdote: for my birthday this year, my girlfriend took me to Firefly for dinner. I knew we had a reservation, and was puzzled (and to be honest, a bit peeved) when the hostess began escorting us toward the back room, past several nice empty tables.

I was just about to ask for another table when I realized that everyone seated in the back looked very familiar—a group of 10 good friends, there to help celebrate.

The knife is mightier than the pen.

My fashionist (stylist? or whatever the fuck) decided along with the stupid smile and hair to forgo the wine glass.

She's been shitcanned for three days now.

JohnW's picture was followed by Muhammad Ali. Pretty heady company.

Although apparently Ali was there for an article "For Whom the Bell Tolls" about Punch Drunk fighters. So I don't know what that says after all.

This Friday at 8 is my first Firefly experience (delinquent, I know). What should I not miss? Wine/cocktails, starter, entree -- going for the whole experience. Thanks.

I hate to spoil everyone's evening, but the much sought after (among many other phases) Mr. Derek M. Brown will not be attendance on Friday (or tonight or Thursday for that matter).

We are looking into a sign (similar to the gentlemen's clubs around the corner) that would state right out front if his adorableness is holding court or not.

Squash soup garnished with pickled onion was delish. The oyster app always satisfies. A very dry martini. That said, I'm always interested in what my server recommends.

Thanks for the Firefly recommendations. Dinner last Friday, 8PM. On your advice, had the pork spring rolls, lamb minute steak with mac n cheese, and a side of truffled fries. Paso Robles Rose from the festival. Steak was great, meaty flavor with a little sweetness in the sauce. Mac n cheese that my wife thought was no big deal, because it was just like the homemade stuff she had growing up in the south -- which I think is the point. But holy crap, the fries! My mouth is watering just thinking about them. One of those great finds, that makes you want to go back to a restaurant all by itself. The fries also inspired me to finally go with a signature . . . .

Yup. Here is the scoop from the website

Wined Down Happy Hour

Sip away after work - from 4:30 to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, Firefly is pouring a different red and white wine, with a common thread between them. Some are from our wine list and some are offered only during Happy Hour. Enjoy Chef Wabeck's special Happy Hour menu, just perfect for sharing.

Apologies to all of youse, but our lounge is closed today , November 11th, for a private party until 8:30 tonight, rendering happy hour impossible.

Don, please to remove this when deemed necessary.

I wanna say something. I'm gonna put it out there; if you like it, you can take it, if you don't, send it right back. I want to be on you.
