I need a GREAT bakery in NOVA, please!

I'm trying to revive this moribund board to ask for some advice and I hope someone will respond.  I'm planning to visit my little sister May 20th to see my brand new (yesterday 👶❤️) niece.  It also happens to be my sister's birthday.  We don't really do gifts, but since I'll actually BE there, I'm planning on an arm full of flowers and I'm hoping for some fantastic pastries.  We are driving up from Richmond that morning, so I don't really want to have to go into the District on a work day.  I'm hoping for something delectable and (fingers crossed) possibly French in the NOVA area.  She's in Oak Hill (Herndon).  I found a place called "Paris Baguette" in Fairfax (inside an HMart?).  Their menu looks amazing, but anyone can make a great looking website.  Anyway - does anyone up there have any ideas for me?  Thanks!

At some point pre-pandemic I had investigated Pastries By Randolph, in Arlington, but never bought anything there.

I haven't tried Paris Baguette but I suspect they have good pastries.  Haven't been in years but the above mentioned Pastries by Randolph was great (and may still be) and the same goes for Heidelberg Bakery in Arlington. A good bakery that I have been to recently is The Swiss Bakery and Pastry Shop in Springfield. 

 

If you are looking for cakes, Victoria's Cakery in Fairfax is very good (parking is sometimes an issue).

 

You could also pick up pastries from the local Wegmans, Whole Foods, or Trader Joe's.

Congratulations on the niece!  I may be about to not answer your question, but these would be my thoughts.
 

Red Truck, if it is open when you are driving past is a GREAT bakery.  But it’s not NOVA.

 

Praline which is in southern Maryland is French and super.

 

Buzz Bakery is really great and is in NOVA.

 

Blondie’s Doughnut, is not French, but they are super and they deliver.
