Breakfast 2022

Two ZEF-tover breakfasts, made with leftovers from Saturday's take-out from ZEF BBQ.  I ate all the crawfish from the Viet-Cajun boil right away, of course.  Yesterday, I tossed the leftover sausage, potatoes and corn into this frittata with some onions, spinach and arugula.

This morning, I heated one of the Portuguese sweet breads and enjoyed it along with the miso-honey butter and smoked pineapple jam that came along with it.  The bread, on its own, was not my favorite but it was pretty stellar slathered with that butter and jam.  Nice Cara Cara orange from the farmers market.

@Kim Shook, I don't eat cereal, mostly because I've never liked milk, but I would devour your sandwich.

Pulled one of the batards from last weeks bake out of the freezer this morning.

We both had toast for breakfast. Moe with ham on his and I had mine with a bowl of

homemade soup.

About 80% of the bread that I bake gets eaten as toast.

@Kerala – Like you, I haven’t made poached eggs in a while.  I love them and need to remedy that.  By happy chance, I’ve just come across a recipe I’d set aside to try again that we discussed over here.

@Ann_T – I don’t care for milk, either and never really have.  I will chug a small glass of icy cold milk after eating a warm chocolate chip cooky, but other than that, I’m not a milk person.  I do like cereal, though and have perfected the art of slightly moistening my cereal with a touch of milk.  Or I also eat it out of hand like popcorn! 😊

I've never seen or heard of smoked tuna. Did you smoke it yourself or purchase it smoked. My husband would go crazy for it.

Our neighbor has young hens. They are just beginning to lay eggs and don't quite have the hang of it. This morning's eggs, one with an extra large yolk.

An extra jumbo egg that weighs nearly 1/4 of a pound.

There's a practice among campers etc in Israel, where you take a can of tuna packed in oil, and set it aflame, resulting in smoked and warm tuna.

Random fact 🙃

I forgot to post this one - Yesterday’s breakfast was a new recipe from an old magazine – Taste of Home 1999.  They were called “Individual Quiches”, but they were more like a breakfast casserole with bread, sausage, eggs, milk, and cheese:

They rose up like lovely soufflés.  Inside peek:

Very good.  Fluffy and moist.  Definitely making again.

Will definitely have to try that. Would be easy to make weight watchers compliant, which is my goal these days. Thank you!
