@KennethT may be familiar with Robyn Eckhardt's ode to palm sugar - worth a read to understnd its place and nuances  https://eatingasia.typepad.com/eatingasia/2015/08/on-pursuing-an-obsession-and-getting-nowhere-until-you-do-me-and-palm-sugar-.html

An added colon removes a certain something from that link.

Had half a batch of pasta dough frozen and figured it was time to use it up. Sweet potato ravioli with sage oil and peas.

It'd be nicer without the peas

You may be right, but I thought it needed something green. Didn't think spinach or broccoli would work. 😄

Tonight's dinner is going to be Mongolian  Beef with sticky rice and salad.

Recipe is from the slow roasted italian.

What did he do that they slow roasted him? 😄  Seriously, I am confused though - Mongolian Beef with sticky rice in an Italian cookbook?

Not from an Italian cookbook, I think the writer refers to him/herself as a slow roasted Italian.  Nevertheless, the recipe was absolutely insanely good.

No one is perfect!

The Pea's while delicious on their own, may not have been absolutely necessary, but I am sure it was a nice contrast in taste and texture.

I would have thrown some crisp pancetta/bacon or something crunchy to elevate it a bit further - but the execution of @Dave R's looks spot on.

My sister came over this weekend for a long due visit. When I asked what she wanted to eat her list was Schnitzel, potato soup or lasagna. Little one narrowed it down to Schnitzel and potato soup, so tonight we had the latter. When I asked why he likes the soup better than the lasagna (which would have been my first pick) he answered „because of the bread bowl“ 🙄

It wasn’t really part of the original plan, but hey …

Served with a smoked Frankfurter sausage and a great local unfiltered & unpasteurized beer …

And a little liquid dessert for my BIL and me 🥳

Bon Appetit online featured an eggless "carbonara" recipe a while ago using kabocha/butternut for the sauce.  I didn't have bacon/pancetta or chicken stock on hand so improvised with dried shiitakes.  It's no carbonara, yet still very tasty albeit unusual (squash + mushroom).

I went to Costco for the first time this year and saw that crab legs were a few dollars less than anywhere else so that became dinner.

Aren't those snow crab clusters such a sweet deal - both the price and the meat. I am particularly fond of the little nuggets in that part adjacent to the legs Usually just rinse, nuke to take the chill off and use a spicy mayo dip.

@Norm Matthews - what a perfect meal!

Forgot and screwed up "meatless" Friday this morning with BACON, but I got back on track with dinner:

Smoked oysters and Premium saltines.  So basic, but SO damn good!

I love those!
It was my f-i-l's Saturday night snack with beer.
