Dinner 2022

Another WW friendly dinner. Beef and broccoli and brown rice. I really like doing the beef/sauce part in the instapot. I saute the onions in the IP, take them out, then just add the the beef and sauce and cook for 10 minutes. Quick release - turn to saute, add the cornstarch slurry and the steamed broccoli, sauteed onions and bean sprouts. Served with brown rice - it hit the spot.

Yes, weight watchers. Rebranding to WW. Whatever - it's basically just a way of being mindful of what you eat. I am all about indulgence, everything in moderation. I won't name the ex-boyfriend who dubbed it Whale Watchers...

Of everything out there it is what I suggest. Bazillion years later I still tend to think in points in a good way.  Gives you an evaluation framework. Vegetables are your friends. Carry on

@Dejah, I didn't follow this recipe (or any recipe for anything). I added chipotle.

I made your tofu and salted mustard, and we enjoyed it. I overloaded the poor tofu tho'. 😁
I also wanted steamed fresh eggs with salted egg yolk. Got lazy and made the 2 dishes on one plate!
I LOVE mu choy!

Better late than never......  Belated Christmas Eve Tourtiere.

Wasn't able to make the Tourtiere this year so I baked one for Moe yesterday.

The week leading up to Christmas I had canned a small batch of the Chile sauce that Moe likes to have

with his pie.   And I had also froze turkey gravy to serve with it.

Moe wants another piece for breakfast and then I'm going to slice and freeze the remainder.

That looks SOO good, I really want to make that recipe.

Is brezel just another word for pretzel or is there a difference? Either way - that brezel looks wonderful!

I am sure there are minor differences, but Brezel is simply the German word for what you would call a (soft) pretzel …

A couple of recent dinners:

Sirloin, cooked SV then seared, served with latkes.

A sort-of chop suey with shrimp, bean sprouts, bok choy, mushrooms, onion and small amount of rice noodles by request.

Sometimes there isn’t enough time to buy anything even though you originally planned and so you have to combine more unusual things - indian inspired stir-fried greens (kale and swiss chard) with black mustard seeds, turmeric, curry leaves, coconut, lime juice and jalapeño served with some excellent sausages from our closeby German butcher. Overall excellent “fusion” food.
